This watch is simply stunning. Produced exclusively for the Gulf countries, it features Arabic/Hindi numeral hour markers, a highly sought-after detail in the region. My journey with Cartier began in 2023 with this limited edition Santos Dumont. I've always loved the Santos' style, especially its shape that perfectly hugs the wrist. However, something held me back; I think it was mainly the lack of robustness. But as my collection grew, I became more interested in models I wouldn't wear every day. And that's certainly the case with this Dumont, which I wear only very rarely, but which makes a statement every time I do. The only drawback with Cartier is the lack of an anti-reflective coating. It's a shame when you offer such beautiful dials.

My story with Zenith began thanks to a friend who owns a Chronomaster Open. My interest in the brand had been limited until then. After doing some research beyond the well-known fact that "Zenith supplied the Daytona for years," I realized the horological legend I'd been missing. So I went to my authorized dealer several times to try them on, and although I'm not usually drawn to white dials, this one instinctively caught my eye. I should also add that my wife, who was with me at the time, even said, "I think it's more beautiful than the Daytona" (referring to the colored subdials). I'll always remember that moment.

And so, a week later, I decided to buy it, and it has since become the watch I wear most often.

The only reason it doesn't get a 5/5 rating is its price, which is, I must say, exorbitant. However, I believe that no brand I am interested in would get 5/5 for value for money today, as inflation has become so outrageous.

Zenith Chronomaster Sport

The story begins a long time ago. My father received a classic Reverso from my mother for his 50th birthday (25 years ago). I think that my love for watches began at that moment. Although I now have a well-stocked collection, the Reverso has always remained present but distant, perhaps I was aware of the fact that I would rarely wear it. But after giving one to my wife for the birth of our daughter, I started to take an interest in the model again. But there are so many... The choice would certainly have been more difficult if I had not attended a masterclass on watchmaking at the famous Jaeger boutique on Place Vendôme in Paris during which I fell in love with this duoface model with moon phase. It was a few years ago now, but when I had the opportunity to get my hands on this model, I jumped at the chance. It is too recent for my opinion to be final, however I remain captivated by the level of details and finishes that undoubtedly make it a watch for "big boys" to "Frenchify" the Anglo-Saxon expression. Of course, the moon phase is not the most useful complication nor is it used the most, but what a pleasure for the eyes, especially when there are 2 in the same watch. A detail that has its importance: the different sets of bracelets provided with the watch. I think that is what I particularly like in current fashion trends: we allow ourselves to wear it whenever we want, when we want, even a Reverso so dressed with jeans and a t-shirt. This approach speaks to me a lot.

Watchmaking is a very strange passion sometimes. We all know it, we think we are satisfied when we buy our first watch by saying to ourselves "that's it, I have the watch of my dreams, it will calm me down for a while". And then a few months later - or year(s) for the most patient - we say to ourselves "having a collection requires eclecticism, so why not this one?". And then we find ourselves buying a new watch as soon as the opportunity arises or finances allow it. For me Glashütte Original has always been synonymous with prestige. But, I think it took me a while to really get interested in their models due to the lack of an official store. Far from being a criticism, this allows watch lovers to have access to a fabulous brand that does not pay for pharaonic marketing campaigns. Swatch Group certainly, but with the DNA of a high-precision watchmaker and specifications worthy of a 100% independent store. The only problem is that the model I like the most is no longer in the catalog. So I turned to Chrono24 (for the first time) to find the model of my dreams: the Senator Hand Date with matte black dial. A little apprehension when buying, but once I received the watch, I must say that it is probably one of those that had the most effect on me. Refined, elegant, with a sporty chic side, for me it is a watch that can be worn in all contexts, an essential criterion. The little detail that made me fall in love? The subtlety of the reverse date sub-dial. My purchase was therefore above all influenced by the emotion that the design of the watch gave me, the DNA and authenticity of the brand, and the level of details for a price that defies all competition (even Grand Seiko...). Only one problem: the addiction to Glashütte Original begins, and it seems impossible to stop.

Let's take German lessons!

Not much to say really. This watch ticks all the boxes and it would certainly be the one I would keep if there was only one left. It can be worn in all contexts depending on its strap, which I particularly appreciate. Historic, comfortable, sporty but classic, in short: legendary. The chronograph that every collector must have. Nothing more to add dear aficionados!

Mandatory in a collection

The Zenith brand was created in 1865 by Georges Favre-Jacot in Le Locle, Switzerland. A pioneer in Swiss watchmaking in the creation of a true vertically integrated manufacture, Zenith aimed to create the most precise watch of its time at the best price. Over the years, it has established itself as a benchmark for precision and expertise in many fields.
In 1899, the marque Zenith presents its first pocket chronograph and wins various prizes, including first prize at the Paris Motor Show. In 1911 Georges Favre-Jacot handed over management of the factory to his descendants, who named it Zenith, the name of the highest point in the trajectory of a star in the sky.
In 1920, Zenith launched its first wristwatches and continued its development until, in 1960, it purchased the Martel Watch Co. Nine years later, the brand gave birth to the El Primero movement, the first chronograph equipped with a rotor winding mechanism. central. This world first makes El Primero today the most precise mass-produced movement in the world, thanks to its balance wheel and its cadence of ten vibrations per second. Over the years, Zenith will sign numerous innovations. The company owns three of the largest movements: the El Primero integrated automatic chronograph, the 22-line manual 5011K and the ultra-thin mechanical Elite, all available with several complications, moon phase, dual time, fly-back.
After numerous buyouts, the company that owns the Zenith factory decides to stop the production of mechanical watches in favor of quartz. In order to save these calibers from destruction, Charles Vermot hid cams, cutting tools, presses and machines, while recording the production process in a small notebook, secretly hoping for the return of mechanical movements. It was only nine years later that Zenith returned to the hands of Swiss investors who revived the brand's mechanical movements such as the El Primero.

I bought this watch almost 2 years ago when it came out, having "fallen in love" with the model, its dial, its colors. 2 years later, the crush is still there. What can I say technically? 40 mm, El Primero / High Beat - ref. 3600 giving it 60 hours of autonomy, more recently completed by its sister 3620 equipping my Defy Skyline. A very contained chronograph both in terms of the diameter excluding the crown and its thickness, exceptional finishes, a sumptuous dial with 3 counters, tricompax required, in blue and gray tones that make it bright and lively. I am not used to using the chronograph regularly and yet it is quite a poem with its lightning speed like the small off-center second of my Defy. Its bracelet made by Gay Frère as at Rolex is very comfortable with a high degree of finish. Maybe a criticism on this one: its shiny polished appearance in the center would tend to attract visible scratches, however it is not a watch intended for maneuvering or work activities so a little attention spares me these problems today. The purists of the brand with the crown tend to criticize this model because of its undisguised resemblances to a Daytona with a very moderate final virulence. Zenith is indeed very legitimate having equipped the Dayto for a time with its Primero and then no one has the exclusivity of the tricompax :). In short, I love this watch whose balance I find perfect!

A “little” marvel!

I have always wanted a Zenith Chronograph, the model with black ceramic bezel and white dial was the opportunity to see a new direction of Zenith, this great manufacturer with an incredible history. I acquired this green bezel with green dial, this configuration left me with a very strong emotion when I tried it, as if it had been created for me. This timepiece is simply magnificent and has nothing to envy the model with the crown that is practically inaccessible and unobtainable in this configuration. The El Primero caliber is a historical reference and so beautiful. This piece is a jewel both in its colorimetric originality and its 5Hz movement

Magnificent Chronograph

After trying the white dial and black dial models, I had the pleasure of putting this sublime piece on my wrist and I had a huge emotion. This watch is simply a joy, the El Primero caliber is fantastic, the details and the care given to this piece make it a reference watch. The green is superbly worked, the sub-counters also with the signature of the 3 Zenith colors. 
One of the beautiful pieces of my collection without a doubt. If I had to find a weak point it would be the metal bracelet which is not up to the standard of this manufacture. It's simple I replaced it with a rubber

The first one is Fantastic

Having an El Primero in my collection was a must. We won't go back over the question of whether it was really the first, but in any case, this movement has a history, as does the Zenith brand. And what a movement! More than 50 years later, it's still there. And seeing this hand go around the dial in 10 seconds, and offer you precision to the tenth, it's magical. I still had to choose the model equipped with this movement. This Chronomaster Sport is the first model I tried. And then I took the time to discover the range. Chronomaster Original, Revival, different colors, the Defy too. And then finally I came back to my first flash, this Sport model. I like the contrast of the white dial and the tones of the three sub-dials. The ceramic bezel reinforces this contrast and gives it this sporty character. It doesn't go unnoticed when you wear it, it attracts attention, not really a model to remain discreet. And so it is not worn in all circumstances. And then when you wear it in the middle of a group of watch enthusiasts, there is always one who will come and start the debate on the reference to the Daytona. And you can settle the question over a drink...
