Maxime's review on his Panerai Radiomir Quaranta

My love affair with Panerai began in February 2026. I was eyeing a 44mm Luminor when I stumbled upon the Destro Otto Giorni. After acquiring it, I couldn't part with it. So, I began to take an even more serious interest in the brand, despite all the criticism it has faced for years. Looking back, I find it rather unfair and unconstructive. Panerai is a brand that, in my opinion, suffers from its status among "Paneristi" and other Panerai collectors. I would define it as an extremism that prevents the brand from moving forward, from innovating, basically, from adapting. For my part, I've been trying to distance myself from marketing biases for some time now, and I was looking for a dress watch to celebrate a promotion. The idea of a cushion-shaped case really appealed to me, and so it was quite natural that I gravitated towards the Radiomir Quaranta. 50m water resistance is a disgrace, according to many. Personally, I've never dived with an alligator strap watch. However, on my wrist, I see a watch with a distinctly different architectural style: a deep blue sunburst dial and gold hands that blend seamlessly with the rest of the watch.
