Rolex Datejust 36 Owner Review : Sublime, balanced and classic

First watch purchased at a Rolex boutique (Place Vendôme), after only a one-month wait (in 2025). The salesperson certainly heard and appreciated my shared passion for watches, prompting that famous "call" unexpectedly and very quickly. I owned the 41mm DateJust II with a fluted bezel, but I deemed it too big for my 17cm wrist; it no longer fit the image of a classic, dressy watch that I attribute to this model. So, during a visit to their store to have a fixed link removed from my Explo II, I took the opportunity to try on the 36mm DJ. Naturally, I put myself on my wish list, without the fluted bezel, on the advice of the salesperson, who told me that this very/too popular version would be very long. This watch is now in my collection, and I find it simply perfect. I won't rewrite the article here about this timepiece, owned by a significant number of Dialicious readers; the photos speak for themselves. I love this configuration with the silver dial, the smooth bezel, and the Jubilee bracelet; the only bracelet I was missing to complete the iterations offered by the brand with the crown (after the brushed Oyster of my Explo II and the polished-brushed Oyster of my Yacht Master). The only negative aspect is the brand's price increases, which, today, in 2025, make it a very expensive model for a three-hand watch with a date (€8,000). It's still steel, even if it's 904. I wear it during the week, at the office, with a suit. It will be passed down to one of my children; we often think of passing it on with this kind of timeless model.
