Why customers love Breguet?

A real treasure that's being forgotten. Working in a suit every day, I absolutely needed a dress watch, slim enough to fit under a shirt. Discreet yet eye-catching even for the most discerning watch connoisseurs. I had several brands and models in mind for this purchase, but I must admit, Breguet wasn't one of the brands that initially came to mind. What a shock it was when I came across this model. It perfectly met all my criteria. Extra slim, elegant, with a moon phase display that added a little more poetry to the look, but above all, it conveyed the tradition and history of the legendary brand that is Breguet. I could go on and on about the brand's history: their case, their numerous handmade guilloché patterns, their blued hands with hollow tips, and a small sapphire crystal on the crown, but please, look at this movement! What a daily pleasure, and for many years now, to be able to admire this engraved gold movement. What a job! This small, off-axis oscillating weight bearing the famous "B" for Breguet. Unfortunately, nothing like the work done on the movements of current models. How sad to see the decline of this prestigious and historic watch brand. Whether in terms of visibility, prestige, quality, or especially communication, this has been the case for many years now. Seriously, to think that Breguet didn't even present a watch worthy of its prestige for their 250th anniversary at Watches & Wonders saddens me. Even more so when you consider that it was Arnold & Son who felt compelled to release a Breguet homage watch since Breguet hadn't planned anything... I'll cheer myself up by thinking that this adds a little more rarity to this magnificent piece I'm presenting to you today. As you can see, this watch gives me a lot of emotions, even over the years, whether it be joy or sadness. Isn't that the definition of love?

With this vintage white gold Breguet, dating from the end of the 1980s, we dive into the watchmaking purity of the immense Breguet house, perpetuated by the creative genius of Daniel Roth and his acolytes who have given meaning and legitimacy to these collections. Here it is a very simple 3-hand watch in white gold; but yet we find everything Breguet: the apple hands, the Roman numerals, the straight handles, the fluted case middle and of course: the admirable guilloché. Here, it is an extra flat model (about 5mm thick), combined with a size of only 32.5mm which fits wonderfully on almost any male wrist in my opinion (but too many refuse to do so, and I tend to say - so much the better!!!). A joy of elegance, goes everywhere and marvels of softness all in solid gold.

A year of research to find the perfect watch for me. I absolutely wanted a small diameter in yellow gold on alligator, Roman numerals, for the very elegant side, an extremely complicated task these days, Cartier was my first choice, the Tank then the Santos-Dumont, for the history (first wristwatch), the elegance, however during my research, the mechanical winding became another criterion, for the interaction, the search is more and more complicated, the Cartier are quartz and the Santos-Dumont is not the first wristwatch. I am inexorably pushed towards vintage watches and second-hand watches, which I do not like. I think copies, DIY watches, merguez. I spin chrono24 to find the model. Rolex Oyster perpetual 34 mm, Franck Muller, Blancpain, IWC, meet my gaze, no emotion. I'll spare you the chapter on prices that I find very high on certain models. ANYWAY, let's move on. The purchase of this watch is motivated by moments of pleasure, I want to feast my eyes. And there, my gaze fell on this 5907, a real love at first sight, but no longer produced, it is extremely complicated to find second-hand. One day, I want to give up, one day, I am ready to take the plane to look for one abroad and then, an ad in France. Wary, I contact the Parisian seller, the atmosphere relaxes, trust is there. I go up to Paris and the deal is done. Since then it is attached to my wrist, impossible to remove it, I play with the light, look at the details with a magnifying glass, A child on Christmas morning.

Bréguet is a name that has thrilled me since childhood: all these inventions, all these pieces in museums. I can't afford a grand complication from the brand, but this classic, available in 4 versions (guilloché or enamel, white and yellow gold) has been catching my eye for a long time. I opted for the enamel and white gold version, for its discretion, its sobriety, its supreme elegance. 40 mm in diameter, 6 mm thick, welded horns, small seconds at 4 o'clock, Bréguet signature almost invisible at 3 o'clock, in the enamel. A movement of great beauty. The power reserve is a little short at 45 hours, but it's really not a handicap. It's a joy to wear under a dress shirt. But the advantage of white gold is that you can really wear it in all circumstances without it being too ostentatious. I bought this watch because I like to own 3 watches from each watch brand that I have in my collection. Not really an affection at first. But after changing the strap, my view changed and it became one of my favorite watches. Today it doesn't often leave my arm because I find it so perfect!
