The Auricoste Fusco is a tactical diving watch launched in a limited edition to celebrate the 170th anniversary of the French watch manufacturer Auricoste, founded in 1854. Designed as a direct tribute to the Fusiliers Commandos of the French Navy — nicknamed "Fusco" — this unique timepiece combines robustness, compactness and stealthy aesthetics, while asserting a definite military lineage.
The history of Auricoste is closely linked to that of French military watchmaking. A long-standing supplier to the French Navy, the brand is particularly known for its Type 20 chronographs and its clocks on board the French military's submarines and aircraft.
It is in this heritage that the Fusco, launched in 2024 to celebrate the house's 170th anniversary. Published at just 170 numbered copies, it embodies a sober and powerful homage to the elite units that are the Fusiliers Commandos. True to their motto “Strength & Honor”, this watch is designed as a mission tool, capable of going unnoticed while ensuring maximum readability and reliability in the most demanding environments.
Fusco posts a discreet but controlled design, halfway between the classic diving watch and the tactical intervention piece. It is designed to accompany its wearer in field situations where efficiency takes precedence over pomp.
Case and bezel
The 316L steel case adopts a contained diameter of 37 mm, for a thickness of 11 mm. This deliberately reduced format aims to guarantee a discreet port, without compromising robustness. Its architecture evokes the military divers of the 60s.
The 120-click unidirectional bezel is equipped with a matte black ceramic insert, very sober. It deliberately remains slightly protruding in order to avoid clashes. A orange triangle at noon, both functional and symbolic, reinforces readability while serving as a nod to the tactical markers used by the commandos.
Dial and hands
The two-tiered semi-matte black dial displays geometric indexes and Arabic numerals coated with Super-LumiNova “Old Radium” emitting a blue glow in the dark.sword needles oversized contribute to a lecture intuitive, even in low visibility conditions.
At 6 a.m., a inverted orange triangle recalls the bezel marker and ensures a discreet but effective visual symmetry. No superfluous text: only the word "FUSCO" appears on the dial, in sober capital letters.
The Fusco features a Swiss automatic movement: the Soprod Newton P092. This modern caliber beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, has 23 rubies and offers a 44-hour power reserveIt has a stop-second function for precise time setting.
This movement is COSC certified, guaranteeing strict chronometric accuracy of -4/+6 s per day. It has also passed resistance tests Chronofiable®, which simulate years of wear, thermal shocks and brutal accelerations. The propeller-shaped oscillating mass, partially visible through a sapphire crystal background, recalls the propellers of nuclear submarines, reinforcing the naval coherence of the whole.
La Auricoste is Fusco waterproof to 200 meters, in accordance with its submersible vocation. Its screw-down crown, discreetly integrated into the housing, allows easy handling while ensuring watertightness.
It comes with two bracelets interchangeable:
and H-Link steel bracelet with micrometric folding clasp, adjustable to 5 notches
and Tropical bracelet in FKM, ideal for water activities, UV and salt resistant
The whole thing is housed in a waterproof box, accompanied by tools, a 36-month warranty certificate and a booklet detailing the philosophy of the watch.
Auricoste has bet on a precise and sober execution: 316L steel with a brushed satin finish, ceramic inserts, vintage luminova, double-layer dial, matte black hands... Nothing is decorative: each element is designed to optimize readability, resistance and comfort.
The lack of shiny details or flashy logos is part of a stealth military aesthetics, faithful to the commando spirit of the watch.
Alone 170 copies numbered were produced. This number corresponds to the 170 years of the Auricoste house Each watch has a unique number, engraved on the case back. This case back is itself decorated with the motto “Strength & Honor”, and a discreet luminescent orange triangle, visible even in the dark.
This series is exclusively distributed by authorized Auricoste dealers, and its indicative price is located around 2,150 € (bracelet Tropic) has €2,350 (steel bracelet).
The Auricoste Fusco is a watch born for those who don't need to do too much to command respect. It is aimed at those who are looking for function before form, discretion rather than show, And history more than trend.
With its impeccable finish, certified movement, tactical aesthetic, and rarity, it stands out as one of the most interesting French tool watches of its generation. A watch for field men, connoisseurs, and quiet hands. A watch that lives up to its name.
