Watchmaking is a field where tradition mixes with renewal. It is in this spirit that the brand Serica presents its 5303 diving watch. Launched by Jérôme Burgert in 2018, Serica quickly positioned itself on the market thanks to its clear vision: to create robust, waterproof and aesthetic mechanical watches, which can adapt as well to adventure as to everyday life. The 5303-3 model is priced at €1,490.

What are the characteristics of the Serica 5303?

Case

At the heart of each watch, the case embodies its robustness and elegance. That of the Serica 5303 is made of steel with a diameter of 39 mm. It features polished and brushed finishes, including a refined polished chamfer. Its design guarantees remarkable water resistance of 300 meters (30 ATM), thanks to a screwed back and crown.

Dial

The watch is distinguished mainly by its dial, which evokes the depth of the abyss and the mystery of the nocturnal sea. The addition of this ceramic insert reinforces the impression of immersion in the sea depths, while recalling the serenity of an atoll lagoon. This combination also provides greater visual opening of the dial.

Caliber

The mechanical heart of the Serica 5303 is Soprod's NEWTON movement, guaranteeing Swiss reliability. Equipped with a power reserve of 44 hours, this caliber has an impressive precision of -4/+4s per day, testifying to Swiss watchmaking know-how and precision.

Bracelet

The watch's steel bracelet is characterized by its ingenuity: one part slides under the other, providing an unparalleled wearable experience. It's a little trick that requires a little getting used to, but once mastered, it ensures unparalleled comfort and ease.

Portability

Thanks to its sleek design, the Serica 5303 fits all wrists and all occasions. Its midnight blue color adds a touch of subtle elegance, making it suitable for both underwater excursions and formal events. The steel bracelet, while sturdy, is designed to ensure comfortable wear throughout the day.

Serica 5303: An authentic and unique diver

The Serica 5303 is a magnificent example of balancing functionality and aesthetics. This model is not only an ode to diving and adventure, but also a tribute to Swiss watchmaking know-how. For those looking for an elegant, reliable and affordable watch, the Serica 5303 is an essential choice like the Serica 4512 or the Serica 8315 GMT Chronometre. The Dialicious owners' reviews are a valuable resource for understanding why customers have chosen Serica with the real-world customer experience of this model.

Perfect watch without the few flaws

4.7

This is the watch I chose for my graduation gift. Technically speaking, nothing to complain about: As for the movement, nothing to complain about. It's the Soprod M100 based on the Seiko 4L movement, which is a high-end movement. The movement has been proven reliable by Soprod over time. I would have preferred a Sellita SW300, however, as it's a more widespread movement, meaning a better chance of long-term availability. It's a true tool watch: resistant to magnetism thanks to a soft iron case (bravo, Serica), water resistance to 300 m, materials resistant to life's hazards (sapphire + ceramic), screw-down crown. All this within very compact dimensions. And the icing on the cake: COSC certification. Aesthetically: It's unlike any other; it's a stroke of genius on Jérôme's part. I never tire of it. The bezel allows you to track a second time zone without the watch complication. Flaws: The biggest flaw of the watch is the bezel, which is difficult to turn. I took it to the after-sales service, and they lubricated the bezel gasket, but after a few months the problem returned. It's a shame to have a beautiful bezel with a great click if it doesn't turn. I think luminescence isn't its strong point. It's a shame this extreme approach didn't encourage them to apply Super Luminova X1. The last flaw is that you have to tighten the crown firmly, otherwise it unscrews. The problem is that there's a matte effect; the case warps due to the high tightening pressure. I think they should add a shoulder to the case at the crown. Without these flaws, I think it would be the perfect watch. Hopefully, the price stays the same.
