I've always wanted an Ultra-Chron, but being rather hesitant about vintage watches, I never quite took the plunge. But Longines must have read my mind and released this little gem. Close to the original with today's modern features, it's my own little Rolex. I love this watch; outdoors, it catches the light from every angle, it really pops. It's comfortable on the wrist with its 37mm diameter and a very comfortable bracelet, which also has a micro-adjustment feature. What more can I say? The photos speak for themselves.

Little candy.

I don't like Roman numerals, I'm not very sporty chic, I'm more of a dateless type. But I often walked past the shop windows in front of this watch with a blah, but I still had to look at it.
then one day for my birthday, at the insistence of a saleswoman I put it on my wrist.
And there! I go from a blah in the shop window to a Whouaaa on my wrist.
a beautiful finesse for this sporty chic, my gaze drowned in this dial of a deep sunny blue, on these small wavelets. Applied indexes with these two Roman numerals which finally bring a very beautiful balance to this dial.
that day, I tried after, all the watches which caught my eye and I had only one thing in my head, this Riviera.

the unexpected

a brand not so old, well-known references, and others much less, like this miros, of a crazy elegance.
despite its 39 mm, it imposes itself on the wrist, its square shape is not foreign to the case and let's talk about its thickness .......... very thin with its 8mm which participates in its affiliation of dress watches.
I associate the aesthetics of this watch with Art Deco, which I particularly like, and this original case back with these small windows which give a glimpse of the manual winding movement.
very pleasant to wear, it will go under all the shirts see more if affinity.
my only downside, I will have to clean the indexes which suffered a small problem of reaction to I don't know what, but nothing dramatic according to my watchmaker.



Art Deco

I always wanted a Longines, falling in love with several models but never enough to take the plunge. And yet, there it was, out of the catalog, well hidden. This superb elegant watch, almost simple in appearance before getting closer to see a whole bunch of subtleties. Beautiful Alpha or Dauphine hands for some, faceted and striated indexes, the silver color of the dial very very slightly iridescent depending on the light, a very fine typography, an art deco style from the 50s that I particularly like. With its 9.9mm case on a diameter of 38.5, this pretty watch will easily slip under your best shirts. As for me, it's without a shirt, just to admire it. I forgot the case back which is not bad, with its plane among the stars. Which could characterize me with my feet on the ground and my head in the stars. The only downside, its bracelet, too coarse for me.

Bought less than 2 years ago, a real favorite diving watch with a vintage look that I immediately liked. Waterproof to 300 meters, incredible precision thanks to the in-house movement caliber L836.6 with automatic winding, certified Ultra-Chronometer by TIMELAB, magnificent hands, perfect readability except perhaps at nightfall (but perhaps due to my aging eyesight) diameter of 43mm for a thickness of 13.6mm so yes it is a beautiful beast but I find that on my 17.5cm wrist it suits me quite well. The black bezel turns gray depending on the light and I still never tire of watching the second hand slide at crazy speed on this magnificent, very refined dial. 
Index of the cardinal points in applique. Last thing, the watch is a little heavy but not unpleasant to wear.

Details

This watch, water-resistant to 300 meters, is extremely elegant. It offers very good readability day and night. In full sunlight, the sapphire bezel is magnificent with its red indexes. In the shade, the touches of green luminescence are most beautiful. Its precision is excellent, measured between 0 and +2 seconds per day on my copy.

Elegant and precise

I succumbed to the shape of this watch that I find very original. While listening to Julien in an episode of Petites Montres Entre Amis, I told myself that it was time for me to look at vintage Longines more closely and in particular the Ultra-Chron collection recognized as one of the very first watches equipped with a 5Hz caliber. While searching on the various second-hand watch sales sites, I discovered this one with a unique shape! The hands are original - if we refer to the ads of the time - the striated dial, the crown at 4 o'clock gives it an asymmetrical side... It has just joined my asymmetrical collection with the Zodiac Olympos and the Omega Constellation D-Shape! It would have been even more successful without the date which impacts the purity of the lines... Note an outdated configuration with a monobloc case which opens by removing the glass... I'll leave that to the watchmaker who will service it in the coming days 😎

A question of form but not only 🤷‍♂️

A watch that combines charm and period know-how, this Longines Ultrachron ref 7826 dating from 1973 reminds us that sometimes certain vintages deserve a lot more attention.

The horns are very angular with a slight chamfer on the inside.
The rather thick stick indexes have multiple facets, the dial is cream-colored and is crossed by a line called "target", the Longines logo and the ultra-chron symbol are applied.
The domed glass obviously gives us the feeling that the edge of the dial is curved, which it is not.
The case, case back, hands and indexes are in 18k rose gold, which contrary to appearances remains rather discreet and not flashy surely due to the very light brushing of the case.

To finish it is a very classy watch, that I wear sparingly during special events, the noise of the caliber 431 very singular and hypnotic is similar to a small "machine gun".

It did not take less to become my dress watch par excellence.
