I finally managed to buy this Rolex Sea-Dweller from my Rolex AD in Manchester a few months ago... after almost 2 years of waiting list. I was like a child when I got the call... I honestly couldn't believe it! I had tried it many times and I always liked its beastly and brutal side for a diver's watch... I read here and there that it was not a real Sea-Dweller because it has the magnifying glass on the date... Seriously, all these specialists telling you what to do and what to think... it's becoming a pain! I have the Rolex I wanted, I like it, it's beautiful, maybe it will go for a little dive this summer - or not - what matters is that I love it! Thanks for this platform that surprisingly did not exist before 🙏

Love it even if waited too long

I have always been seduced by the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso and yet it took me years to decide. I tried it dozens of times in different configurations, with or without a second hand, Reverso Night&Day, Reverso Tribute to Small Seconds... but each time I said to myself: "It's a beautiful watch but it doesn't suit me! »

And then I offered a large Cartier Tank to my wife... and I had the opportunity to wear her watch on a few occasions both to try it out and to question myself concretely about my ability to wear a rectangular timepiece.

Bingo! Something unlocked and I felt more confident about wearing a rectangular watch and I decided to take the plunge with this Reverso, in the simplest version. I could have gone for a more “fun” model like the green or red Reverso Tribute Small Seconds but my goal was to have this classic icon and in this sense the simplest model, with a silver dial, was the best solution for me.

Classy icon

Years ago, I fell in love with this particular Seiko Chronograph, reference 5717. Before then, I wasn't a huge fan of Seiko because I honestly wasn't aware of the diversity of models that the brand produced in the 60s/70s. I had Omega's Chronostop in mind as THE reference for such a watch, but I wasn't ready to buy one.

I remember browsing the web when I stumbled upon this model that absolutely stunned me! I asked myself: What is this thing? After some research, I realized that it was a derivative of the limited-edition chronograph that Seiko had made for the Tokyo Olympics in 1964. I did look for the historical model, but the prices were well above the 300 € that I ended up paying for this watch from my memory.

It works perfectly, the bezel is fantastic, even though I would have preferred the plastic one from reference 5719. It's a watch that brings a smile to your face - simple, efficient, as the Japanese know how to do. It's worth noting that this model has been reissued in the Presage range with a rather successful look, but of course, it doesn't have the charm of the vintage piece!

The Seiko Chronostop

I f... love this vintage Seiko! Yes, another one crazier than my chronostop... Dial, shape, color, case, crystal... are just amazing. Crazyness has a price for such a vintage $1,250, but it is just shocking how I love this watch. I am lucky that it's fully working and keeps crazy good time! I am becoming more and more involved in these crazy 70s Seiko with hundreds of colors. OK, it's a Quartz movement and i have no idea yet how often i will have to change the battery. No big deal! I was told that vintage Seiko bracelet are cheap and unfortunately it is the case. 


Gone crazy with this design!

A mi chemin entre la Deepsea (44mm) et la Submariner (41mm), cette Sea Dweller 126600 est tout simplement géniale. Son gabarit & ses détails la rendent assez unique en son genre. Si proche du best seller Submariner et pourtant tellement différente… J’en suis le témoin puisque, je me suis séparé de ma No Date 114060 pour pouvoir me la procurer. Aucun regret je la porte au quotidien et même pour le sport. Le détail qui fait sans doute la différence est le Sea Dweller rouge vif au milieu du fond noir mate.

Le bon compromis 

  Ayant eu que des plongeuses ,Omega 300 , Iwc aqutimer , et maintenant une Seadweller achetée neuve depuis 2022  chez ad . Je suis dingue de ma montre je la porte tous les jours , je la trouve bien plus originale qu'une Sub . Son seul petit défaut , je trouve la lunette unidirectionnel pas assez dure . J'ai rajouté une photo avec son poids car je n'ai jamais réussi a avoir cette information . Cela donne également l'impression d'en avoir pour son argent ! 

La montre parfaite 

A sa sortie en 2017, cette nouvelle SD 126600 venait remplacer 50ans après l'apparition des premières SD (une génération entière de plongeuses abouties en 40mm) et surtout, la récente 116600 sortie pourtant à peine 3 ans plus tôt.
Signes extérieurs: 43mm, une signature rouge et un cyclope, pourquoi ces changements, le cyclope ne me semblait pas avoir sa place ici, la signature des plongeuses de l'extrême ne se trouvait-elle pas dans le fait qu'elles possédaient une date sans cyclope?.. et les 40mm étaient parfaits.
 Pourtant 4 ans plus tard, j'ai fait l'acquisition de cette nouvelle génération de SD et j'avoue maintenant beaucoup l'apprécier, techniquement très aboutie (183gr, 1220m, un bracelet oyster très agréable et réglable facilement, un mvt permettant de passer à 70h de réserve de marche et un cyclope bien utile pour qui ne voit pas bien), au final cette plongeuse est robuste, lisible, précise et marque le changement probablement pour satisfaire les marchés américains et orientaux. Je recommande ce modèle à ceux bénéficiant d'un poignet minimum de 17,5.

Convaincante!
