The must-have Macro Loupe for all watch lovers

After watching an astronomical amount of videos about this watch, I still couldn't form an opinion. In fact, some people praise it while others say it should be thrown away!

However, on paper, I really liked this little GMT. Having to travel far from home, I decided to treat myself to it to maintain a connection with France (and my family).

Verdict? I still don't know what to think of this timepiece. It's original; the bezel colors are also (to my knowledge) rare. The play of light, which changes the lower part from rose gold to black, is incredible. The dial is extremely legible. The NH34A movement is precise (+7s/d) and the crown is a pleasure to use.

On the other hand, the lume, although pretty, fades quickly, and the bezel is unidirectional, as if the brand hadn't bothered to make one specifically designed for the GMT. The beautiful bracelet doesn't allow for fine adjustment.

In short, a watch full of great qualities and small flaws, but I love wearing it and admiring it. The connection it allows me to have with my family may be making me lose all objectivity... so what?!

A divisive watch

This model from the famous French micro (not so much anymore, actually) brand has been catching my eye for a while.

The sector dial is a copper color that's really pleasant to look at. Less flashy than gold, but in my opinion, more vibrant than a black dial, this shade is perfect for me.

Its small size may seem daunting at first glance, but it's wonderfully easy to wear (even on my fairly large wrist).

The caseback lacks a bit of decoration, but all in all, it's not supposed to be the center of attention when wearing your watch.

It keeps time perfectly, with a drift of about 7 seconds per day.

In short, I love this dress watch because, although understated, thanks to its dial, it doesn't feel bland.

Classy and classic

Like many watch enthusiasts, when you start to really get interested you naturally go for a first automatic model at an affordable price. 

Seiko often came up in the forums, but because I didn't want to be too mainstream I went for Orient (although it belongs to the same group). 

Spending as much time as possible underwater I particularly look at their diver's models... and I come across this one: the Ray 2. 

An orange dial that reminds me of the first diver's watches, 200m waterproof, everything seems perfect. And when you count it... it's even better! Apart from the compressed steel clasp which is not exceptional, this tomato is ultra precise (+2s/d), resists everything, readable day and night (and underwater!). In short, it does more than the job, and I wear it almost daily without being afraid of scratching or damaging it. 

Little extra, on nato strap (goldeneye) or black rubber it radically changes "spirit".

Unbeatable

Yema, a French watch brand founded in 1948, has built a reputation for robust and innovative watches. Among them, the Yema Sous-Marine stands out for its atypical and bold character.

A great opportunity this little Venetian equipped with the GMT nh34 movement from Seiko
Its freshness, its vintage and classy look make it very important in my collection
It makes me forget my unconditional taste for Arabic numerals and seduced me with its harmonious indexes its compactness 39 mm in diameter and its lug to lug which makes it easy to wear even in dress mode
I found it at the time in 2022 at 470 euros which made it ultra competitive but today it is at 625 euros catalog price and the NH34 movement is widely distributed among other micro brands which offer very good quality products at lower prices


A Japanese heart with Italian elegance

The first microbrand to feature the then brand new NH34 caliber from Seiko, the Venezianico brand is offering a variation in the era of time in 2022, with a smaller diameter of 39mm while keeping the DNA of the Nereide, its very first model funded on Kickstarter in 2017, then under the name Meccaniche Veneziane.
And the success is there, the quality does not disappoint and the model sells without any problem. The watch that I am presenting to you today is in the direct line of this Nereide GMT 2022, given that it is in a very summery color released on August 9, nicknamed "Cielo".
Cielo, because it is indeed the Italian sky that inspired this creation. The azure blue reflected on the sea and the white of the few cottony clouds that dot the Venetian horizon.

When you get out of the package, which was well packaged and in the image of the brand, there is a qualitative white box and outer box, which give an impression of quality. In the box is the warranty and a map of Venice. The watch is well protected and the unboxing experience is rather premium for the price of the watch. Some will regret a fairly large box that will take up space in the closet, but this is a problem that any watch fan must face, shall we say.

At first glance, the watch exudes quality, the finishes on the case are very correct for the price, the crown is signed and the BK7 insert is very beautiful. The glass is sapphire and has an anti-reflective coating. A small detail that enthusiasts will appreciate. The bracelet looks like a Patek Philippe Nautilus bracelet, a less common choice than the everlasting Oyster and Jubilee, we regret the lack of articulation at the first link of the bracelet, which will tend to lengthen the total length of the piece.
The bracelet closes with a butterfly clasp rather than a diving clasp, which inevitably makes it more complicated to adjust to the precise size... Especially since the bracelet does not come with any "half links" while these are on sale on the brand's website... For €30 each.
As for the color, the star of this model, we feel the desire to surf on the "Tiffany Blue" fashion launched by the Nautilus Tiffany & co. and which we find everywhere since. It should be noted that the blue of the Nereide GMT is much closer to a "Tiffany" blue than other models like the Tissot PRX and Citizen Tsuyosa "ice blue".
The watch is comfortable, although a little thick for its diameter (due to a caliber that is not the thinnest). We regret the presence of a 120-click bezel, more suitable for a diving bezel. The watch would have deserved a bi-directional 48-click bezel in line with its GMT function...

To get away from technical considerations, does this watch do its job? Does it transport me under the Venetian sky every time I look at it to know the time?

I would say that it is a great success and fully fulfills this promise, the captivating blue of its dial and its insert never leave me unmoved when I look down at it.

I therefore recommend it without hesitation, thanks to its many positive points, its unisex diameter and its vibrant colors make it a very good summer companion for any watch lover. It remains to be seen whether it has a place in the collection outside of summer, because it will certainly not go unnoticed at work in the fall!
