The collection Tudor Grantour embodies the spirit of motorsport, fusing elegant design and motor racing-inspired functionality. Launched in 2009 in partnership with Porsche Motorsport, this line reflects Tudor's commitment to precision and performance.

Design and Aesthetics

The Grantour models feature a 42mm stainless steel case, polished and satin finish, offering a robust presence on the wrist. The fixed bezel, graduated to 12 hours, allows reading of a second time zone, reinforcing the functional aspect of the watch. The dial, available in black, white or silver, features applied indexes and luminescent hands for optimal readability. The touches of red on the sub-dial hands and the central second hand recall the world of motor sports.

Movement and Features

At the heart of the Grantour beats a mechanical automatic movement. The model Grantour Chrono is equipped with caliber 7753, offering a power reserve of approximately 46 hours. This chronograph has three subdials: a small seconds counter at 9 o'clock, a 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock and a 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock. The chronograph function is activated by screw-in pushers, ensuring water resistance up to 150 meters.

The flagship model, the Grantour Chrono Fly-Back, incorporates a flyback function, allowing you to instantly reset and restart the chronograph with a simple press, ideal for measuring successive times in car racing. This model is powered by the caliber 2892 with flyback module, offering a power reserve of approximately 42 hours.

Bracelet and Confort

Grantour watches are available with a three-link steel bracelet or a perforated leather strap, reminiscent of pilot's gloves. The folding clasp with safety clasp guarantees a secure and comfortable fit. The ergonomic design of the case and bracelet ensures a perfect fit on the wrist, even during rapid movements.

Additional Details

The sapphire crystal protects the dial from scratches, while the screw-down crown, engraved with the Tudor logo, ensures optimal water resistance. The Grantour models also have a date window at 3 o'clock for the Date model and between 4 and 5 o'clock for the Chrono, with an integrated magnifying glass for better readability.

Conclusion

The Tudor Grantour collection is aimed at motorsport enthusiasts and watch enthusiasts looking for a watch combining performance, precision and racing-inspired design. With its advanced features and refined aesthetics, the Grantour embodies the spirit of circuit competition while offering elegance suitable for everyday life.

In 2018, the purchasing circumstances are as follows: an internal note is circulating to order certain end-of-series models from Tudor. The discounts are very significant, and there will not be one for everyone. It's about making a choice among the few remaining models/variants, and hoping to be chosen. First come, first served. I'm looking for something complementary to my current watch (chrono, black dial, no date). I like the steel style, so I'm going for a 3 hands, a white dial, and a date. The GranTour matches these choices. At this time, I still don't know much about what a watch technical sheet looks like. Just that it will be cheaper than my current one, and that suits me very well. The photos on the website help validate the choice. No real testing, let's go to order. Once arrived, the watch is impressive (the side is substantial, although the total thickness is only 11.1mm). Diameter that I find sturdy, beautiful shine, fineness of the indexes, down to the small line representing tenths of a second. I will use it alongside my previous watch. It is an important step to know when to use one or the other. The rule I end up choosing will be to use the GranTour for 5 months at winter time. Its snow-white dial will go perfectly during my activities on the heights. On the movement side, it is an ETA 2824-2. It is quite difficult to obtain information on this model. At first I found it frustrating, then with the years and experience coming, I took pleasure in having something barely recognizable on my wrist. And to be able to tell the story of this little-known model. There remains the difficult task of finding another compatible bracelet, in rubber, to personalize it further.
