Black Bay S&G, a lasting favorite

This Tudor Black Bay S&G was love at first sight from the moment I tried it on in the store. In fact, I bought it pre-owned immediately after trying it on, without any hesitation. Today, it holds a special place in my collection: it's probably my second favorite watch, and also one of the ones I've worn the most. I've always loved gold or gold/steel watches, even if they aren't always easy to wear every day. With this Tudor, the balance is particularly well achieved. Unlike my Rolex Daytona 116523, the gold is much less flashy: the more matte and brushed surfaces give it a more vintage, understated, and warm look. The absence of a ceramic bezel and the uniform black dial further enhance this simplicity and perfectly complement the gold accents. A simple yet remarkably effective combination. The case and diameter are quite substantial, especially compared to a Submariner, but that's exactly what I like. I appreciate relatively heavy watches with a real presence on the wrist and that impression of solidity and robustness. The large crown, engraved with the Tudor rose, also contributes greatly to the watch's charm. Imposing in size but very well designed, it perfectly embodies the overall spirit of the Black Bay. Compared to some other watches in my collection that I've featured here on Dialicious, this one is clearly not going anywhere anytime soon. It should remain firmly attached to my wrist and accompany me for many years to come. A simple and effective three-hand watch, surprisingly discreet despite its beautiful proportions and touches of gold. A robust, warm, and endearing timepiece that, several years after my initial infatuation, continues to give me just as much pleasure.
