I have long wanted a Rolex Explorer II, but this watch has all the qualities in my opinion, and I am always happy to wear it.
I bought it with a well-finished metal bracelet, but whose rivets I did not like too much, and which I replaced with a Nato which I find suits it very well.
It is a watch that can follow you everywhere, in town as well as on a walk, and that I often take on the weekend when I need a versatile watch that can withstand bad treatment...

The perfect day watch

Of course I had wanted to add an El Primero caliber to my collection for a long time.
But I had never had a crush on the recent Zeniths, finding for example the tricolor sub-dials of the Chronomasters not to my taste.
Until I found first in the press and then at a reseller this limited edition designed for Hodinkee.
Love at first sight!
First the complications: chrono + annual calendar (day date month) + moon phase
Then the dial, more precisely the meteorite sub-dials
Barely a hesitation in front of the 38 mm diameter, a little small for my 22 cm circumference wrist
I generally find the chronometer complication useless and boring, but I find myself starting the chrono of my Zenith several times a day as the movement of the small hand to the tenth of a second is fascinating and hypnotizing. It really is a very beautiful caliber.
The meteorite subdials look good on the black background, sober and discreet, a little old school
The thickness of the watch remains very reasonable despite the number of complications on board
Only small downside: the bracelet. It is very comfortable, but not up to the standard of the rest of the watch, lacking in particular easy micro-adjustment (I'm nitpicking a little, it still includes an adjustment possibility of about 1cm with basic tools; but for this price, many competitors do better)

Complications, performance, discretion and retro

This is the third creation by Blaise-Dominique Giuliani, a designer based in Marseille, after the Mille-Mer and the Star-Diver.
We find Bohen's codes in the shapes of the case.
The watch is very thin (less than 13 mm) for a resistance of 600 meters.
The finishes are superb, from the brushed sunray dial in shades of gray and black (which also has brown highlights of the most beautiful effect) to the indexes, to the case itself, alternating brushed steel and polished steel.
As on its big sisters, an absolutely perfect bracelet, large adjustment range in the clasp, very strong decrease in the width of the bracelet between the width at the lugs and that at the clasp, which contributes to the stability of the watch on the wrist.
A high-quality hyper luminova, which still allows you to read the time at the end of the night.
The case back is not transparent, which is not surprising for a watch diving to this depth, and a shame because Blaise-Dominique reworks the movement provided by Soprod a lot.
60-click bezel, very precise and well adjusted
Note that the watch is delivered in a superb case, and with two rubber straps that can be very easily put on.
After a few days and nights on the wrist: a very easy watch to wear, on my large 23 cm wrists, as on more "normal" wrists, due to short horns, the balance of the watch, the decreasing width of the strap. A strap that is easy to adjust in a few seconds to the variations in circumference of your wrist. And above all, a very beautiful watch, a magnificent dial with changing reflections, whose balance is not disturbed by a date window, perfect readability, a contained diameter. Original design, and yet a reassuring watch by its presence, its weight, its balance. A watch that is very easy to wear on a daily basis, more so than its two big sisters, which are more tool-watch type.

A virile and fine diver at the same time, superbly finished

Arriving at the end of 2024 in the Pelagos family, a great success in my opinion.
Aesthetically, I find it to have very beautiful proportions.
The colors are perfectly matched between the very beautiful matte black of the bezel and the dial, and the vintage-style cream indexes. An incredible super luminova, blue indexes and hands, green bezel indications. You can read the time without problem until the end of the night.
Grade 2 titanium for the case, grade 5 for the back.
Back engraved M.N. followed by the last two digits of the vintage.
The strap is in military green fabric, with a removable naval aviation badge for those who would like a little more discretion. It's hard to say how it will withstand use, but it looks very sturdy, and at the same time very thin, so the watch does not take up too much thickness on the wrist, unlike many classic NATO straps.
The orange GMT hand looks great on the matte black and green, complementary colors.
I tried to wear it on an orange Nato, and it looks pretty good, even if I prefer the original strap. Beautiful titanium Tudor buckle.
The lug width is 22 mm, the lugs are short, which means that the watch can be worn by small wrists, despite its 42mm diameter
Despite the GMT complication, the thickness remains very contained, thinner I think than its little sister FXD M.N of the MN combat swimmers, and much thinner than the Black Bay Pro, another GMT of the brand (see photos).
In short, beautiful work, very pleasant and light to wear.
The date window at 3 o'clock is not annoying, because of its contained size, identical to the size of the indexes, and very readable with its cream color on the black background of the watch.

A very successful titanium, COSC and METAS GMT adventurer

I let myself be tempted by this Pelagos FXD, while I already own the classic Pelagos (which I will review one of these days). 
They share the lightness of the titanium material, the reliability and power reserve (70 hours) of the automatic movement, the dominant blue, and the incredible quality of the luminova. 
But it is really not the same watch! 
The blue of the FXD is less "artificial" than its big sister, a slightly deeper navy blue, more discreet, marrying very well with the gray of the titanium. 
No date, which is for me an advantage in terms of sobriety and balance. 
The bezel is bi-directional, which is very practical (especially for combat swimmers!). 
And above all the lugs are fixed, no pumps risking breaking. 
This of course limits the choice of strap (it's not really a Nato that comes with the watch, but it's very comfortable and well designed), and therefore this watch is intended more for everyday, sports, vacation, casual use, than for dress use.
Nice reminder on the case back of the partnership with the French Navy (and the vintage).
The quality of the luminova is such that you can easily read the time at the end of the night.
The watch is very pleasant to wear, between the lightness of the titanium and the possibility of adapting in 2 seconds the imitation Nato strap with velcro.
It's certainly a fairly recent purchase, but I have a hard time leaving it, and I feel that it will accompany me all summer and much more.
Another success from Tudor. We always wonder why pay double and wait 2 years for the cousin to the crown...


Tudor I love it!

Both very classic and original, dressed and sporty, retro and modern. Omega coaxial movement, manual winding, splendid vintage livery assortment of black and brown / beige: a very beautiful speed two counters that is out of the ordinary. Its originality is partly due to the hollowed indexes, as well as the "broad-arrow" hands. Comfortable bracelet and equipped with a micro adjustment sufficient for the small summer dilations. Effective super-luminovao. A sufficient power reserve of 60 hours, and the precision doubly certified by COSC and METAS. A very beautiful harmony of this watch, between the proportions, the agreement of the shades of the dial and the hands, and the variations between polished and satin steel on the case, the bezel and the bracelet. Only one small regret: I would have done without the date indication at 6 o'clock, but this is not a defect. For Omega and speedmaster fans in particular, a good complement compared to a classic moonwatch.

There are few watches with alarm complications: the Vulcain cricket, the Jeager memovox, and Tudor tried it twice. It is a complication that is a bit of a 'gadget' of course in the age of smartphones and smartwatches, but which has a lot of charm. Incidentally, it is indeed very practical, the settings are simple, the ringing (I should rather say crackling) audible enough to wake a good sleeper and signal to your interlocutors the end of the current meeting and the start of the next one. 42mm in diameter, very comfortable to wear on a cooked or metal bracelet. The dial is elegant, not overloaded, but has useful indications (on-off and ringing reserve, small date at 6 o'clock). A crown for winding and time-date settings, a crown for winding and setting the ringing time, and a push button for on-off of the ringing. The sides of the case are nicely curved and polished. Very light little lum on the hands and some hour markers. A very reasonable thickness despite the addition by Tudor of the alarm module on a very correct ETA with 42 hours of power reserve. No frills, no sapphire caseback, 100 m water resistance, a Tudor tool watch, functional, elegant and harmonious. It is not a complication that attracts crowds, Tudor removed it from its catalog last year. I do not wear it very often, but it is always with pleasure, and it always intrigues the curious who hear it ring and discover this pretty watch and its nice complication.
