The&nbsp;Squale brand was created in 1959 by the couple Charles and H&eacute;l&egrave;ne Von B&uuml;ren in Neuch&acirc;tel in Switzerland. Passionate about diving and water sports, the founders launched into the field of underwater watchmaking, a sector still unexplored at the time. The name Squale comes from the word "shark" in Italian. In parallel with the creation of several watch models worn in particular by numerous bodies of the Italian army, the brand will also produce cases for other watchmaking companies such as<a href="https://www.dialicious.com/en/blancpain"> Blancpain</a>,<a href="https://www.dialicious.com/en/heuer"> Heuer</a> or even<a href="https://www.dialicious.com/en/sinn"> Sinn</a>.
It was in 1968 that Squale watches forged their legend by contributing to the records of free divers equipped with the Squale Master 50 ATM, which preceded the Squale 101 ATM, one of the very first watches waterproof to 1,000 meters. Cette magnifique Squale est sortie en édition limitée pour le 60ème anniversaire de la marque. Il s'agit de la Squale 30 ATMOS Tono-Argento. Squale était le sous-traitant de nombreuses marques établies pour la fabrication de leurs boitiers, comme Tag Hueur, Douane, Doxa ou encore... Blancpain. On comprend mieux pourquoi cette 30 ATMOS ressemble tant à la Fifty-Fathoms. Son cadran est fumé et soleillé. Son verre en saphir traité antireflet est bombé, créant une charmante déformation visuelle sur sa périphérie. Les aiguilles et les indexes sont couverts de Super-Luminova "Old Radium"... l'effet vintage est très réussi, au dépend de l'éclat de la luminescence qui est un peu terne. Avec ses 40mm de diamètre (lunette débordante) et 12mm d'épaisseur, elle présente des dimensions contenues. L'insert de la lunette est en verre saphir. Le boitier et les cornes sont particulièrement élégants. Le bracelet en cuir patiné est une totale réussite. Etanche à 300 mètres et équipée d'un Selitta SW200-1 élaboré, c'est une montre de plongée pleine de charme et de style. Elle a été produite en 75 exemplaires seulement et demeure maintenant introuvable.

Squale was the subcontractor of many established brands for the manufacture of their cases, such as Tag Hueur, Douane, Doxa and even... Blancpain. We understand better why this 30 ATMOS looks so much like the Fifty-Fathoms. Its dial is smoked and sunrayed. Its anti-reflective sapphire crystal is domed, creating a charming visual distortion on its periphery. The hands and indexes are covered with Super-Luminova "Old Radium"... the vintage effect is very successful, at the expense of the brilliance of the luminescence which is a little dull. With its 40mm diameter (overflowing bezel) and 12mm thickness, it has contained dimensions. The bezel insert is made of sapphire crystal. The case and lugs are particularly elegant. The patinated leather strap is a total success. Water-resistant to 300 meters and equipped with an elaborate Selitta SW200-1, it is a diving watch full of charm and style. It was produced in only 75 copies and remains now impossible to find.
