A neo-vintage look for this chronograph for less than €400! A very nice shop in the heart of Paris for an impulse purchase that I don't regret. A watch with a mecaquartz movement, combining mechanics and quartz, which is expanding my collection!

We are certainly not in the dimension of Rolex or Omega but rather in the desire to treat yourself at a good price for a young French brand that is constantly reinventing itself. With the Awake Concept, this is my 2nd French watch, a sign that young people are mobilizing to offer other paths in watchmaking with a more humble and above all more economical approach.

This is also my 1st chronograph... A way to test this type of watch at a lower price and I must admit that the diversity of information specified on the dial brings this Charlie to life. Its price at €375 exactly makes me say that Japanese watches like Seiko or Orient - like my Prospex Bleue - no longer have the exclusivity of nice, different and accessible watches from a price point of view. Bravo Charlie from this point of view!

Finally, I chose the sand-colored dial with the fabric strap of the same color for the discretion of the whole... and maybe I should have also taken the steel strap for its touch of originality?

Falling for something

Here is my daily, the Tudor Black Bay 58 black and gilt dial (or gold depending on the person). Its charm was evident from its launch, just from the photos. I was lucky enough to be able to try it quickly without being able to buy it. This forced me to think in spite of myself and to tell myself more than ever that I was going to buy it according to the availability of the time! A few weeks after its launch I went to buy it during a weekend in Paris at Bucherer near the Place de l'Opéra.

After more than 3 years on the wrist, I can only say that it perfectly fulfills its mission of a watch without headaches, easy to wear, neither too small, nor too big, nor too much of anything else. A discreet watch all in all even if since then, it has come a long way at Tudor with more or less successful variations...

I am very happy to have bought it at the time significantly cheaper than the 3950 euros currently asked! Small digression, the Tudor Black 54 catches my eye but isn't the characteristic of a daily to be the only one 🤔

My daily for several years 😎

I present to you my "little" Seiko Prospex integrated into the "Save the Ocean" limited series. As with the purchase of the Awake Concept La Bleue, I am attentive to the commitments made by the Seiko brand and I hope they keep them! This Seiko Prospex offers a blue dial going from ocean blue to black... reminding me of the gradient of the Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea James Cameron! The comparison stops there as this Seiko offers a fantastic quality-price ratio!

Less than €500 for a watch with Seiko quality and water-resistant to 200 meters! Its silicone strap is super comfortable and the readability is fantastic, especially with the Lumibrite treatment in the dark. It is clear that it is a very pleasant watch to wear daily because it is very robust and almost ordinary if we compare it to the Rolex Explorer II.

Morality, it's my favorite watch whenever I do a physical or technical activity like going fishing on a boat... another way to enjoy the ocean 😎

Another beautiful blue

It's been a while since I wanted to introduce you to this new Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Edition 007 "No Time To Die" I bought it with the titanium mesh bracelet but I must admit that on this one I prefer it with a tone-on-tone NATO strap... which makes it even lighter. And yes, the lightness is one of the things that seduced me the most beyond its pastel colors which frankly differentiate it from the other Seamaster Diver 300M...

This is my second Omega Seamaster from a James Bond after the more discreet Seamaster 300 "Spectre". I have acquired a taste for the brand and the Seamaster and I must note a fantastic precision of the two models, even more this one with the METAS or Master-Chronometer certification (not knowing if it means the same thing). The engravings on the back are really nice and the little arrow on the dial - symbol of the British armies - reinforce its unique, different and exceptional side - at least for me.

I bought it new for once just under 10,000 euros and it now costs 11,000, a nice increase... I hesitated at the time because I found it a bit expensive and I wasn't sure I would buy it at 11,000 🧐

In any case, it's a watch that I wear with great pleasure whatever the conditions and my activity... A versatile watch - certainly not more discreet! - with a bit of projection on the wrist of Daniel Craig and No Time To Die, without a doubt, the best James Bond of recent years...

A titanic James Bond

I am the happy owner of this Rolex Explorer 2 black dial. I bought it decades ago and it is my only Rolex. Even then I was interested in the brand's products, looking for a watch with punch but not known or identifiable anymore.

I chose this little-known Rolex, little used in the brand's communication. Bought new in a Rolex boutique in the Paris region, it has many qualities, robustness, readability of the dial and a non-flashy style than the current Rolexes which shine a little too much for my taste.

I would like to treat myself - if I could afford it - to a Rolex Daytona, but the mirror-polished Oyster bracelet very different from that of my Explorer makes it prohibitive. And then, the evolution of the market, the success of Rolex, the impossibility of buying a new one, made me turn away from the brand in favor of more discreet or unknown brands... all in all the continuation of what made me come to this Explorer 2

Accomplice

I like the simplicity of this Omega Seamaster 300. Inspired by the very first Seamaster 300 launched in 1957 - reference CK2913 if my humble research is correct - this Omega combines many qualities, at least those that interest me. A very unique look, associated with the history of the brand and indirectly with that of the most famous secret agent. 

I bought it second-hand on Chrono24 looking for the Spectre version, but it was too expensive. After thinking about it, the simplicity of the dial showing only Seamaster and while having a bubble-shaped second hand convinced me. I received it with its steel bracelet that I immediately changed for a dark, black bracelet that enhances the dial. The steel bracelet is very well finished but too flashy with the mirror-polished outer part. 

Nothing to say about the precision and decoration of the movement with a very open case back allowing you to admire the caliber in all its animation. Thanks Omega 🙏

The iconic Captain Willard! I love the story of this watch, seen in the film Apocalypse Now on the wrist of Captain WILLARD but especially also worn by the Japanese explorer Ueshimura! Its textured and sunburst gray dial is superb, I also really like the color of the indexes and its magnificent hands. And the shape of the case is unique and recognizable at first glance... The Nato Straps provided are exceptional with their Seichu braiding. In a word, a watch made for adventure and so endearing!

My Seiko Prospex
Mini-Turtle SRPC39K1 42mm...I really like this Seiko mini turtle with a smaller diameter than the turtle from the same manufacturer, my model is no longer made but it is still possible to find a new green or black model on online sites in Japan. The watch has a sapphire crystal.

Ma Seiko Mini Turtle

The SEIKO Prospex special (but not limited) Save the Ocean edition blew me away when they were released in June 2022. The 3 models, respectively tributes to the SEIKO divers from 1965 (the famous 62MAS), 1968 (the first SEIKO operating at 5 Hz and water-resistant to 300 m) and 1970 (the famous turtle) feature sumptuous textured dials, each evoking a different shade of the ice of our poles, from deep blue to white, including sky blue. After trying them on, the hardest part for me was choosing. But as the saying goes that when you love, you don't count, I finally find myself owning all three... ;-) The choice was too difficult and they all had to be on my wrist. On this model (SPB299J1), it is still the 6R35 movement, which has a good autonomy of 70 hours, and good precision. As easy to wear as its little sister (SPB297J1), it nevertheless stands out with its sky blue textured dial of the most beautiful effect, its "pie server" second hand and its crown at 4 o'clock. I like almost everything on this watch, I really don't have much to reproach it for. Some will say or think that for the price of the three, I could have had a TUDOR. I tell myself that for the price of a TUDOR, I had three watches that I love... 😂

Save the glaciers

Seiko has managed to tick most of the boxes with this GMT: beautiful proportions with case work that highlights the watch, impeccable finishes (with anti-scratch treatment of the steel), perfect wearing comfort and a real upgrade of the bracelet (consistent with the positioning).

I had spotted this watch when it came out, which had caught my eye: for once a diver that mixes classic codes while keeping a spirit of elegance and, while remaining in Seiko codes, a form of modernity compared to the essentials of the brand.

This watch contains many small details that for me avoid falling into the pitfall of market references: without comparing it with the Submariner (factor 5 on the price), I always found the latter too bland (black, black and black ...), the same for the Pelagos, too clinical. Here the GMT hand brings a well-integrated complication, the red dot on the "shovel" second hand animates the dial, the reflections of the ceramic bezel remain sparing, the alternations of polishes and brushes of the cases are well-dosed. Even the crown at 4 o'clock brings a little originality without being ostentatious. In a way, Seiko "corrects" the small imperfections (for me in any case) of historic blockbusters of the sector...

In essence, a watch that can be kept without problem every day, or alternated thanks to its comfortable power reserve (72 hours), and which can, like again a Sub or a Speed, be worn on any occasion, elegant enough for a suit but sporty enough for vacations. A summary of sport-chic a little Bondian in its spirit, and a real success of Seiko!

A real success

Not my first Seiko, but my first diver's watch from the brand.

This is an edition I wasn't familiar with, different from the PADI models currently offered on the SEIKO website. As a reminder, PADI is the Professional Association of Diving Instructors. Don't ask me more, I'm a novice in this field.

I found this watch by chance at a trade show that had nothing to do with watches, and I fell for this MASSIVE model: a 50 mm case. It's fine on my 20 cm wrist, but I have to admit that it doesn't go unnoticed.
Its deep blue, the bezel with the first 15 minutes in red and the rest in white, as well as the red minute and second hands, make it a striking watch full of character.

The rubber strap, however, isn't the most comfortable in hot weather: it doesn't breathe.

I think the bezel is ceramic. Actually, it doesn't matter: I love the way it reflects in the sun.

Note: I already have a small scratch on the glass. I'll see during the service whether I'll have it replaced... or not.

The watch is also heavy, but at least I can feel it on my wrist.

Finally, I really like this lugless design, which is a change from my usual watches.
