A yellow gold watch with a gold dial and blue stone indexes (lapis lazuli), super-thin, very rare, with vintage dimensions (33mm) and extra-thin. This is a real UFO, quartz, two-hand, that I love to take out for special occasions.
It's a watch I don't see on anyone else's wrist, and that very few people know about. More than a jewel, this Piaget is the expression of a watchmaking taste that has learned to recognize itself.

A chic dress that shines

A watch ready for adventure, cold, heat, the sea (1000m waterproof!!!), the mountains, the metro, running, hiking, etc. etc. Yes, but all this with style, precision and radical design.

I have become a true fan of the brand, its history but also totally convinced of the seriousness of the relaunch by its buyer, Charles Le Ménestrel.

In terms of case, its 39.5mm suits me perfectly and its rather long lugs allow to refine the overall balance of the case which is, it must be said, very thick (between 15 and 16mm). You have to try it to realize the very good balance of this watch which is not at all clumsy in my eyes.

Note that the watch runs impeccably, powered by a perfectly coherent ETA 2824-2 movement and well adjusted by the watchmakers at OW.

Bought second-hand (almost new) via Chrono24 for barely 1000 euros, I don't see many serious competitors that can compete with this watch that is both logical and classy.

A small downside that was quickly rectified: the glass insert that overhangs the graduated bezel was damaged after a few weeks in a very urban environment and without me realizing it. Once contacted, the after-sales service answered me, in French, quickly and took charge of the repair (still under warranty). The watch was returned repaired in less than 4 weeks. This hassle, although it surprised me a lot, confirms the seriousness of the OW house, from whom I had not bought the watch new.

A Diver for adventure

With this vintage white gold Breguet, dating from the end of the 1980s, we dive into the watchmaking purity of the immense Breguet house, perpetuated by the creative genius of Daniel Roth and his acolytes who have given meaning and legitimacy to these collections. Here it is a very simple 3-hand watch in white gold; but yet we find everything Breguet: the apple hands, the Roman numerals, the straight handles, the fluted case middle and of course: the admirable guilloché.
Here, it is an extra flat model (about 5mm thick), combined with a size of only 32.5mm which fits wonderfully on almost any male wrist in my opinion (but too many refuse to do so, and I tend to say - so much the better!!!).
A joy of elegance, goes everywhere and marvels of softness all in solid gold.

Watchmaking purity

First automatic watch I bought for my 25th birthday, I was looking for a rather elegant and refined watch. While I knew almost nothing about the codes and depth of watchmaking in which I would gradually sink, this Max Bill, and the story of its eponymous designer had attracted me.

Today, it no longer really corresponds to my tastes with its very large dial opening and the total absence of a bezel. However, I must recognize its qualities of elegance, simplicity and extreme readability with its perfectly aligned hands and indexes.

Its robust and basic movement, a 2824-2 does the job but we will still regret this ghost date when you pull the crown.

Be careful, a relatively fragile watch, a mineral glass that I damaged twice, and a crown (incredible) that remained in my hand when I pulled it very gently as usual.

A Gold-Steel configuration at Rolex is always a bit old-fashioned, decadent, even vulgar. And yet, that's precisely what makes this DateJust from 1983 so cool. 

It's hard to say that it's elegant and discreet, but its 36mm diameter, its plexiglass, and the 40 years it's been worn make it much easier to put on your wrist. Above all, how can you not drool over this black dial and its large applied indexes? 

An iconic jewel and flawless mechanics for an inimitable style. 

One last detail? the totally patinated "white" date window with its open 6 and 9.

When yesterday's bling makes today's cool

We've said everything, seen everything, said everything again and reviewed everything about Rolex, especially about the Submariner. And yet! This one is a 14060M (4 lines) that I acquired more than two years ago via the CDA. It was my first watch "madness". Since then, my tastes in watches have of course evolved a lot: having gone through Longines, Cartier, Patek Philippe, Omega, returned to Rolex twice (more vintage), etc., nothing helps. This watch is simply unrivaled for me. Far from the bling bling of certain Rolex models that shine with 1000 lights (DateJust 41 fluted bezels and other ceramic models or mirror-polished bracelets), this one is for me the quintessence of Rolex, with enough modernity in terms of comfort and robustness to withstand any test and the contained size and the aluminum bezel. A flaw perhaps? We see too many Submariners everywhere... whether on social media, or in the street/on café terraces: often misused on the wrists of suits and ties that often don't go well with the essence of this sporty, all-terrain diver. In this case, a simple recipe: leave it in the watch box for more than a week and the excitement comes back at a gallop!

This beautiful Rolex is an inheritance from my father who is no longer of this world, he leaves me as a prize a magnificent Rolex which I think is timeless. These indexes in Roman numerals painted in black are beautiful, the tritium has yellowed in the most beautiful way. These black hands stand out well from the white dial which has not changed color through the plexiglass. I love its fluted bezel, its jubilee bracelet and its small case (36 mm in diameter) an excellent caliber 3035 with a quick date window under its cyclops.

The DateJust is, in my opinion, the jewel of my manufacture collection. It sits among my other watches. It fell from the sky. One day, I received a call from my brother who had accompanied his friend to the airport. It was the beginning of the Ukraine/Russia War. He had lost a lot of money on cryptocurrencies. And to bail himself out, he wanted to sell his Datejust 2021 and a Seamaster straight from Korea. He offered them to me and the decision was quick (5 minutes flat). On a whim, I decided to take the Rolex without thinking too much. And, I must tell you that I do not regret it. Its configuration is complete: fluted bezel and Jubilee bracelet. As for the case, it is the historic 36mm size. I love the comfort this watch provides. I think it is the watch of my life.

The Jewel in the Crown

First watch purchased at a Rolex boutique (Place Vendôme), after only a one-month wait (in 2025). The salesperson certainly heard and appreciated my shared passion for watches, prompting that famous "call" unexpectedly and very quickly.

I owned the 41mm DateJust II with a fluted bezel, but I deemed it too big for my 17cm wrist; it no longer fit the image of a classic, dressy watch that I attribute to this model.

So, during a visit to their store to have a fixed link removed from my Explo II, I took the opportunity to try on the 36mm DJ. Naturally, I put myself on my wish list, without the fluted bezel, on the advice of the salesperson, who told me that this very/too popular version would be very long.

This watch is now in my collection, and I find it simply perfect. I won't rewrite the article here about this timepiece, owned by a significant number of Dialicious readers; the photos speak for themselves.

I love this configuration with the silver dial, the smooth bezel, and the Jubilee bracelet; the only bracelet I was missing to complete the iterations offered by the brand with the crown (after the brushed Oyster of my Explo II and the polished-brushed Oyster of my Yacht Master).

The only negative aspect is the brand's price increases, which, today, in 2025, make it a very expensive model for a three-hand watch with a date (€8,000). It's still steel, even if it's 904.

I wear it during the week, at the office, with a suit. It will be passed down to one of my children; we often think of passing it on with this kind of timeless model.



The classic spirit of Rolex

Today I just bought this watch. I went to my AD to see if the Explorer 2 Polar for which I am on the waiting list would, by chance, have arrived. The watch still not being there, I asked the question to know which Rolex would be available immediately. I specified that I only wanted 41mm and especially not two-tone. The saleswoman tricked me by presenting me this model in 36mm and two-tone (the two conditions that I absolutely did not want) knowing that the effect of this model would not leave me indifferent. Bet won, I went home with this watch, which is the smallest in my collection, without thinking more than 5 minutes. I do not regret anything, on the contrary I am completely hypnotized by this palm dial

Love at first sight

I present to you one of the models I have always dreamed of. Very versatile, as chic on leather as sporty on its jubilee. It is a 1987 full stock model, in 10/10 condition. Very happy to have come across this gem, after hesitating for years to take the plunge. It is still waterproof to the same bars as at the time and varies between -4/+4sc per day.
