Why customers love Oris?

Here's my choice as a first-time buyer of a watch from a watch brand. It's a difficult choice until you've taken the plunge, where I change my mind every day, even on the style of watch I'm looking for (field, diver, aviator?). This 40mm Oris Big Crown Pointer Date with a bronze bezel won out because it ticks many of the boxes that appealed to me: 1. the very beautiful cathedral hands; 2. the contrasting dial with the deep midnight blue and white Arabic numerals: surely one of the most contrasting on this model; 3. the gilt dial gives a very dressy look with the gold hands, and the matching logo and railway track; 4. the bronze bezel, matching the gilt, makes the watch even dressier; 5. the fourth hand pointer date function adds to its originality; 6. finally, this model was unanimously approved when I asked my family for their opinion. After a few months on my wrist, I'm still very satisfied with this choice. The watch is comfortable and very attractive to me. I changed the strap for a black leather Oris model with a folding clasp, which is more practical and attractive. Its 40 mm size fits my 17 cm wrist well. I also appreciate the precision of this watch, with a deviation of < 5 seconds per day. Finally, since it's a gender-neutral color that my wife also liked, I found her the same model in size 36, just to match... and to relieve her guilt. What I like less is the lack of contrast on the gold-colored date numerals against a dark blue background, which makes it difficult to read the date. I also don't like letting the bronze bezel oxidize, as I don't find it compatible with the dressy look. I reactivate its shine every month with lemon juice on a cotton swab.

This model caught my eye. I was looking for a robust, sporty watch with a beautiful dial. I was seduced by its smoky green (evolving into black at the edges). Its bezel and strap feature a poly-mirror surface, making it shiny and elegant. Its 13 mm thickness gives it a robust feel. The watch is overall very well finished, and I chose this model because of the 10-year warranty and the incredible promises of this new caliber. It competed with the Longines Hydroconquest and the Tudor BB58. I tried it on in a store and then ordered it online. Its only flaw is comfort; over time, I find the weight of the case unbalanced compared to the strap, becoming a little uncomfortable at the end of the day.

This is a small seconds manual dress watch in a classic 50's style that shares its case shape with the Oris pointer date better known to aficionados. It has gold indices and a guilloche dial that is quite difficult to photograph, but very nice in real life. It measures 34 mm, which was also the case for some pointer dates from this period, there were also 36 mm ones that are automatic. It has a beautiful domed plexiglass that brings warmth to the dial and an extremely thin case for a total height of 8.9 mm. Which makes this small watch that does not pay for mine extremely endearing. In the 80s Oris made the choice to stop manufacturing quartz watches to concentrate 100% on cheap mechanical movements for a discerning public. The 7427 are equipped with a Unitas 6565, very small even in this 34 case, but very solid and reliable. A winning bet that allows you to enjoy these little wonders at a very attractive price by searching the classified ads. After a visit to the local watchmaker for roughly the purchase price of the watch, you can enjoy it for many years and with great pleasure.

I acquired this watch about 7 years ago by chance, after discovering it on eBay. It's a limited edition of 2,000 pieces, released in 2003, called Wings Around the World II – Voyage to the Ice. This watch was created thanks to Oris's sponsorship of Polly Vacher, an English aviator who completed a solo round-the-world flight between 2003 and 2004. Her flight, aboard a single-engine aircraft, was for charity, benefiting Flying Scholarships for the Disabled. She flew over every continent, as well as the North Pole and Antarctica. I own a two-tone model (steel and, I think, rose gold plating), which seems much rarer than the all-steel version. The watch pictured is not on its original leather strap. After several years of use, it finally gave up the ghost. I replaced it with this strap I bought on Etsy, which I think matches the watch perfectly. Technically, it's 12 mm thick, has a 40 mm case diameter (44 mm with the crown), and is powered by an Oris caliber 654, based on the ETA 2824-2 (probably modified only for date display via the hand). A superb watch that I've continued to appreciate over the years!

The Carl Brashear Limited Edition watch is made of bronze, a material used in the 1950s for diving suits. With a diameter of 42mm, it echoes the features of the Oris Divers Sixty-Five. The bronze, initially bright and shiny, has since developed a patina. Water-resistant to 100 meters, this watch with a dark blue dial is powered by an automatic movement. My first real mechanical watch! Purchase considered after many comparisons for the purchase of a first watch. My criteria were the price, a possible originality and especially a diver. (the 1000 M of waterproofness was not the desired goal, but they also characterize the watch). The regulator immediately seduced me. Bought second-hand from a private individual in full set (And with a certain apprehension), putting it on the wrist was a shock because this watch is so light and comfortable, all because of the titanium. Add to that the regulator function which is quite rare and which always has its little effect on people who want to read the time on the sly on your watch!, the helium valve, the 1000 m and this beautiful black and red bezel are also pleasant details. We must add an irreproachable manufacturing quality, In addition Oris is a brand with a history, serious and relatively accessible. In short, it remains my watch that I wear most often and the only one with a bearable metal bracelet. Almost a tool watch but be careful, titanium is soft.

This review follows that of my Omega Seamaster 300. Also bought in 2008 for the birth of my son, I hesitated with the Omega Speedmaster moonswatch but not the same price, Oris being better placed in terms of price, I fell back on this model which had caught my eye since I saw it in the store. Thinking back, I tell myself that I should have bought only one, having bought the Seamaster and the Big Crown on the same day in the same store in Switzerland I had the budget for the moonwatch...in short it was necessary to choose so my wife offered me the Seamaster and I treated myself by buying this pretty pilot's watch. It's always a real pleasure to put it on my wrist, it is really atypical with its telemetric scale bezel, it has a very classic side in the composition of the indexes and numbers, the chronograph is always appreciable and functional, to finish I find it really elegant with these cathedral hands and its slightly guilloché dial background, all this gives it a retro look that makes it timeless. I'm driving my Formula Ford. I arrive at the entrance to the steep slope on the Spa circuit, a quick glance at my Oris ChronOris to know the time I have left before victory ✌️... I raise my head... hard return to reality, I'm at the office and I still have 2 hours of work left. The only consolation is that my Oris chronOris is uncompromising on the time. Its sw200-1 caliber is no joke. To pass the time, I can always look at its orange second hand reminiscent of the needle of speedometers from the 70s/80s. Unless I linger on its black dial, smooth at its ends like the track, or with the central graining that evokes asphalt. The brushed case typical of the seventies, with its polished sides, serves as a rearview mirror, I can see who is coming behind me.... ola it's my boss... At work, but first, let's wash our hands. Damn, I drowned my Oris ChronOris under the tap, phew, luckily it is water-resistant to 100m. The golden hour and minute hand indicates to me on a well-graduated railway that it is almost time to leave. This ChronOris is definitely at home everywhere. On the track, at the office or on the weekend... You will have understood, this watch inspires reverie and an era made of beautiful human conquests.... Small specificity, it is the Movember model, an association working in the field of men's health...

I discovered the Oris brand a few years ago on social media thanks to their Propilot Kermit. In my opinion, a marketing genius, the lime green dial with a very modern and angular case, but especially this little Kermit the frog head 🐸 that appears once a month to completely make this watch lose its seriousness. During a stroll in the 6th arrondissement to window shop, I pass in front of the store. Opportunity to physically see this watch and discover the work of Oris. I then discover 2 other very flashy models, the caliber 115 with its skeletonized dial and the laser with its multi-colored dial thanks to a laser treatment never before seen on a watch. The 115 and its 44mm diameter is too imposing for me. But the laser is wonderful. I discover at that moment, the rest of the watch: - an in-house automatic movement with 5 days of power reserve and a precision superior to COSC standards. - a full titanium watch that despite its 39mm diameter is forgotten on the wrist due to its weight and its contained thickness (9.5mm). - a case waterproof to 100m. - a very angular design reminiscent of the American F-117 stealth planes. This design exploited on every detail: case back, crown, bezel... But it was when I took off the watch that I cracked! By manipulating the folding clasp and its "lift" system reminiscent of airplane buckles, I had a crush. Could it be the memory of a childhood spent on Toulouse-Paris flights between my divorced parents; or simply the satisfaction of the clicks of its use as a fidget toy; I can't tell you. What I know is that I wanted it. Gift for my 30th birthday, the budget not being unlimited and preferring a watch with date, I took this magnificent blue dial for 2200€ and still under warranty for 7 years! 5 months that I wear it, it must spend almost half the time on my wrist. Not bad considering the 12 other watches in my collection… I had a problem with the bracelet one day, a blocked link without understanding where it came from. Perfectly managed by the teams of the Oris Montorgueil boutique, 3 weeks in the workshop (in the middle of August…) and it came back like new, the small scratches having disappeared by a gentle polishing and all entirely under warranty. I highly recommend.

A watch that embodies both timeless elegance and practical functionality, sporting a vintage design inspired by iconic aviator watches of the past. The red/burgundy dial plays perfectly with the light, while the distinctively styled Arabic numerals and the railway are enhanced by cathedral hands and the "date pointer". Finally, a well-integrated date on a watch! The 40 mm case, the fluted bezel (repeated around the case back), the screwed "large crown" and a thickness of 12 mm with a domed glass make it a watch balanced between presence on the wrist and wearability. Here on a cork strap, I also wear it on its original leather, a "vintage" tropic or even a Milanese mesh that echoes its bezel. For me, it is the almost perfect daily watch.
