Wanting a watch in 2023 to mark the year of birth of my first child, and not having the budget for a new madness, I set my sights on this Pointer Date Bronze for the following reasons: 
- I wanted a watch with a bronze case, for the unique patina and color. 
- Sensitive to watches with fluted bezels, this one was somewhat similar
- The slight date pointer complication pleased me for its originality. 

Initially purchased on a leather strap, of poor quality, I was finally able to find the highly coveted bronze bracelet 07 8 20 01, in grains of rice. 
A little fearful of a potential bling bling rendering, and not used to metal bracelets, I finally fell in love with this combination. The patina of the bronze very quickly makes the watch matte, and therefore unique, and the wearing is very pleasant. 

So to conclude, I am absolutely a fan of this watch, of its very unique character in my collection (I would not have made it my only watch), of the blue/bronze contrast that I love, of the little touch of red on the pointer, of the bezel, of the bracelet/watch integration....


Remarkable and unique

Quite a novice in watchmaking, I wanted to treat myself to a watch to mark a special occasion. I immersed myself for a long time in fascinating videos on the history of this watch, especially those on Xavier's channel. Yes, marketing got me. No, I don't regret anything. And again yes, I still love this watch as much. Initially far from being attracted to the black color, I instantly fell in love with this watch during my various fittings. Incredible readability, a feeling of contained size, despite its 42mm, the applique logo, this magnificent movement exposed behind the transparent back... The charm really worked only when I put it on my wrist. Not a fan of metal bracelets, I regularly have fun combining it with nato straps, and recently, a brown leather one, with the impression that everything suits it. In short, a watch that I wear regularly, without getting tired of it.

My Seed (lunar)

For my 50th birthday, I wanted a special watch so I decided to go with an Omega Moonwatch. The recently discontinued model (caliber 1861) was in production for over 20+ years so a large number of them is out there.  The most recent iteration (caliber 3861), with its new bracelet, became too dressy for my liking and lost its tool watch looks.  It’s like comparing a Rolex on Oyster vs Jubilee….  The Omega “Tintin” was produced for only 2 years so it’s empirically rare.  I like the “If you know, you know” factor! 

To the Moon and back

I was looking for THE watch, the one I would wear every day, robust, reliable, elegant, historic, waterproof, prestigious, the watch of my dreams. For me it ticks all the boxes.

This iteration of the Speed, the 3861 combines modernity and the excellence of a cutting-edge movement, with classic and timeless charm, especially with the hesalite glass. I chose this model because I am a carpenter, I only wear it every day, I swim with it in summer, I bathe my daughters with it, it lives with me. The steel back with the Omega seahorse looks more like a toolwatch I think, with the all-brushed bracelet. And the hesalite brings so much depth to the dial, the play of light, the distortion, the dome, with this step dial and the sub-dials that add so much relief. A little polywatch once a year, and off we go again! I am therefore less afraid of scratching the hesalite than a sapphire! I find that it gives it a real extra soul. This is the only watch that offers that in the current landscape. And we are talking about a hand-wound chronograph, which for me is already part of an approach with an emotional connection to this watch.

I find the new chronograph hand thinner, more elegant, the railway more airy and precise in relation to the frequency of the movement, the balance of the baton indexes and the readability are incredible.

I don't have a big wrist, but the 42 mm don't feel it at all. It is the size of a 40 mm, that's the genius of Omega, with these Lyre lugs, the refined bracelet, the reduced lug-to-lug distance...

The 3861 is very precise, it only advances 0.2s per day. Anti-magnetic, waterproof, the METAS certification reassures me, and the co-axial movement is exceptional. 

Its history is obviously incredible, but it is not only about the conquest of space. It has also experienced polar and Antarctic expeditions, and that is what I like. 

To conclude, this speed is for me the ultimate watch, the watch of a lifetime. It is a dreamer's watch.

A legendary watch, my watch

Is it still necessary to add an additional opinion on the Speedmaster? I'll risk it anyway. A watch is a story, a movement, and a design. And there, nothing to complain about, the three elements are combined. Yes, Omega plays the marketing of the "first watch on the Moon" to the fullest. But it still works, right? Then there is this design, what readability, what balance. I don't know why some aficionados go crazy with this DON (dot over 90) but it is there. And finally, this co-axial caliber is still exceptional. I like the rustic side of the manual winding. It allows you to have a more intimate connection with your watch (well, you get what I mean).
And what I also like about my Speed is that you can wear it with a suit as well as on a golf course or in the evening. And when you want to change your look, everything suits it: NATO in all colors, black or brown leather.

Indispensable

Typically the watch I had always heard about without ever considering it. Rather interested in divers and 3 hands, I had never been tempted by chronos. And then a meeting with an enthusiast and a visit to a watchmaker to try one did the rest. Some research on a 311, or a really vintage 145 before, but without finding anything exceptional in terms of condition. Finally, a video by Xavier on Dialicious to react to the launch of the new 310 co-axial made up my mind. Once on my wrist, the charm worked. Timeless and captivating vintage comfort and elegance. I like everything about this watch, the proportions are divine, the readability is maximum. This matte powder black dial which contrasts with these white indexes and hands, this Omega logo painted on this Hesalite version. The lyre horns, the “dot over ninety”, the step dial… Supreme and old-fashioned luxury, the manual winding… Conquered!
