I had dreamed of it for a long time as a fan of diving watches and I logically ended up falling for this sub doped with hormones ... it is big, heavy, thick but I still like it with all its flaws. Obviously it is flashy and over time I stopped wearing it with suits but with jeans and a t-shirt it is cool. And then it remains a Rolex so solid and precise.

Panerai and I have a true love story. A passion that began in the early 2000s, when I discovered this watch on Sylvester Stallone's wrist. To me, it was a revelation: unique, robust, monumental, cinematic... A piece apart in the watchmaking world, which immediately stood out in my mind. From that moment on, I had only one goal: to own one.

That's how, in the mid-2000s, I acquired my first Panerai: the PAM 177. A titanium Luminor Marina, with an off-center small seconds hand and a sapphire crystal caseback revealing a Unitas movement. A simple, technical, and elegant model that fulfilled me... until the day I had to part with it. A heartbreak that I would regret for many years.

After a patient and passionate search, I finally stumbled upon the one that would rekindle the flame: a PAM 116, 2002 edition. A true gem, produced in very limited quantities—1,200 pieces in 2002, only 300 in 2003. Its brown dial, the color of a cigar cap, is breathtakingly beautiful. It offers a striking contrast with the luminescent hands coated with Luminova, playing with the light and the sun's reflections depending on the viewing angle.

The dial is of rare purity: two hands, four numerals, two inscriptions, and the discreet Swiss inscription at the bottom. Nothing superfluous. The titanium, which I particularly like, enhances the whole. And once again, the sapphire crystal case back reveals a finely decorated Unitas movement, adorned with small horizontally engraved "Panerai" signs.

But what sets this piece apart even more is its buckle: a unique design that I've only seen on this model. It's a departure from the classic buckles of the Luminor range, yet it perfectly complements the strap and the personality of the watch.

I'm a Panerai fan, and I fully embrace it. Since I found this coveted piece, I've worn it almost every day. I acquired it secondhand, at an affordable price, from a trusted Marseille dealer. And this time, it's certain: I'll never part with it again.

Next stop? A watchmaking pilgrimage to Paris, heading to Casa Panerai on the Champs-Élysées... with my PAM 116 on my wrist, of course.

After weeks of suspense and waiting on the internet and then in store I got it !!!!!! What an incredible marketing stunt. In the end I hardly wear it ha ha 
But it's my wife who enjoys it. It's light and looks smaller than its 42 advertised diameter. Especially in black and with a tropic strap (mandatory change) 
I've had it since the launch and so far everything is fine. Apart from the scratches on the glass which is a bit cheap. The one from the swatchxblancpain has since been better made. Well nice this little moon but hey I prefer the real speed. Irreplaceable.

The biggest marketing stunt in watchmaking

…it might be this one… I have a special affection for Omega, which I consider to be a truly exciting manufacturer with extraordinary collections. The Speed Master is the ultimate chronometer with such a recognizable design that I never get tired of. And much less flashy than the recent Daytos. The 2021 model with the 3861 module is great and the strap is incredibly comfortable! For me it’s a must-have. Right now I’m wearing it on a NATO strap, it gives it a great vintage style.

If there was only one left...

I had already fallen for the Swatch x Omega collaboration and despite the less hype I admit that the collaboration with Blancpain is a notch above. The perceived quality is better, the mechanical movement visible through the back is very nice. And the rendering on the wrist is classier while remaining sporty. The range of colors is very questionable so I went for the blue first and then the black. I don't regret it. Very nice rendering. To wear to the office or on the hurdy-gurdy. Nice alternative to a Swiss watch without risking death on the street corner. Obviously, as with the moonswatch, a change of strap is necessary which will increase the budget a little more. The price remains a little high for plastic...

A collaboration that is both accessible and elitist!

I've owned a large number of Breitlings over the years, but few quartz models have found a place in my collection. In fact, only one has: the Chronospace Military, equipped with the SuperQuartz caliber—as Breitling likes to call it.
This black PVD model exudes real, almost intimidating character. I never thought I'd ever fall for a quartz chronograph from the brand, but a coincidence—a clearance sale at a watchmaker—finally convinced me. And today, I have absolutely no regrets about the purchase. This watch quickly established itself as a standalone piece in my collection.
With its imposing 46 mm case, it proudly displays its military heritage. Yet thanks to its quartz movement, it remains surprisingly slim and comfortable on the wrist. Its all-black look, accentuated by the PVD coating, reinforces this unmistakable "military" aesthetic—a design that's more than just a nod, since its name clearly states it: Chronospace Military.
The display is exemplary readability, with a strong contrast between the hands and the large Arabic numerals. The luminescence is simply stunning, and the LCD screen treatment is impressively sharp. In terms of both functionality and readability, it's flawless.
Another asset: its great versatility. I've worn it with at least six different straps—NATO, leather, Breitling rubber—and each time, it offers a whole new personality. It's a chameleon-like watch, as comfortable in the field as it is traveling, and I've taken it almost everywhere around the globe. So yes, its price may seem high for a quartz model, but we're talking Breitling here: impeccable finishes, rock-solid durability, and sleek design. While I wouldn't necessarily recommend it at full new price, pre-owned or when you find a good deal, it definitely has its place in a collection. Especially if you like watches with a slightly badass look—and that's not me saying this, but a Breitling salesman in New York, who thought the term suited it like a glove.
In short, this Chronospace Military is an excellent compromise: much more affordable than an Emergency, but with just as much charm and personality. A true field watch, endearing and reliable.

I have been a G-shock fan for a long time, like since 1998! As soon as I got my first job, while taking the Parisian metro, I stopped at a CASIO stand to buy myself my first G-shock. I still have it, by the way. It is in a bad state from wearing it so much. But the story was on its way, not the big story but the little personal story with watchmaking. Before that, I had a few watches, Yema watches, CASIO swatches. But there I chose something that gave me strong emotions. Since then, I have had dozens of G-shocks. At all prices, in all colors, in all shapes. And I constantly alternated between Swiss watches and G-shocks depending on the moment and the conditions. And then recently I went back to the New York and Paris G-shocks one after the other and I rediscovered the legendary 1983 model! The famous black rectangular one. And I fell for this little €100 watch that I proudly wear on my wrist! And which attracts as many comments from watch enthusiasts as a Navitimer, yes yes. In short, G-Shock is fun, it’s timeless and unwavering. It’s pure genius. I love it.

Legendary for 40 years!

We can say that watches are professional, that they are made to explore the seabed, climb Everest or go to the moon, but personally when I buy one for several thousand Euros I don't even go swimming with it! I can be booed but hey that's my way of seeing things and my way of preserving my pieces. Each acquisition has been the subject of an often long journey accompanied by a few deprivations and deserves a little respect. In short, for each activity that is even slightly risky, I preferred not to wear a watch rather than risk damaging one.

Shortly before leaving for a ski trip, I remembered the hassle of the previous year every time I wanted to know the time. You open your jacket because you don't have an outside pocket, so on the chairlift you freeze them. Your fingers are frozen and you risk dropping your poles at best, or your glove or your phone at worst. In the end, you finally manage to see the time but also an email from work that ends up ruining the rest of your week.

So my new watchmaking quest was born: that of a (real) tool watch with the criteria of a contained size (to fit under your ski jacket :-) and a reasonable price so as not to be afraid of damaging it. In reality, the quest was not long, I turned directly to the G-Shock. The choice is plentiful, they are generally quite imposing, the models have references to lay outside, it is not always easy to find your way around... But hey, with perseverance, I (re)discovered the GW-M5610U, it was it and no other.

No time to wait, a little Prime and the package was delivered the next day. When I unpacked it, I was propelled into the DeLorean at 88 MPH to find myself directly in my middle school in 5th B. Honestly, what a joy! It really smells of the 80s with its digital display, its characteristic shape, its little indications everywhere. No need to read the technical sheet, everything is marked on the dial or the bottom! Its size is really great, super small, quite thin, really ideal for me. I felt even younger when I rediscovered the little beep each time a button is pressed, I can no longer stop myself from starting and restarting a stopwatch and resetting it. But the highlight of the show, the cherry on the cake, the finale of the fireworks, is the blue backlighting each time you flip your wrist to check the time in the dark! My God, I love it, a real joy! It has other advantages with its automatic time setting and solar charging. And honestly, for a hundred euros, isn't it crazy? When you see the price today of my K-Way from the summer camp days...

You'll have understood that I love it. It's not the one I wear the most, but what a smile every time I take it out of the box! In my opinion, each collection should have at least 2 watches, including a GW-M5610U (at least for the collections of nostalgic forty-somethings :-).

For nostalgic forty-somethings

Casio g-shock GW-M5600 from 2008... how to talk about it? How to describe it? Bought new 15 years ago, it hasn't changed. It accompanied me to the ends of the earth... always on time, waterproof and many other things. You put it down in the evening, it goes into standby mode and, in the morning, it wakes up at first light... radio controlled in addition... the only concession at the time, its plastic manufacturing material, less comfortable than the current one. It seems that it is a "must have", I am willing to believe it.

Casio g-shock GW-5000U...I've had it for 3 days but I can't help but give my opinion because I know it so well. It's the same solar module as my GW-M5600. Its construction material is flexible and soft. The price of 300 euros is justified by its manufacture in Japan which out of the box is great! Indeed it was on time and date in Tokyo! The size is contained. Heavier than my two other models presented. A great choice. Oh yes it has bluetooth, gadget....

Light watch, cheap, robust, not too big for a G-Shock, discreet and efficient, it goes everywhere and in addition solar so you can have fun with all the functions even the light and will not be bothered by a battery change too quickly.
