I quickly knew I would have at least one Direnzo in my collection. This brand combines the two main criteria I was looking for: design and color. When you add to that Sergio's easy access and the consistency between his words about his career and ambitions and his creations, you know the decision is obvious. The hard part then begins: which model to choose? After almost two years of hesitation, I opted for the DRZ06, which, for me, embodies the essence of Sergio's "design grammar." This watch is perfect for my wrist with its 38 x 11 mm diameter and 44 mm lug-to-lug measurement. Thanks to the magnificent use of solids and voids, polished and brushed finishes, curves and edges, it appears slightly more imposing than it actually is, particularly in terms of thickness. This isn't unpleasant. The design is clearly extremely sophisticated. It's brimming with references to the past—industrial, automotive, architectural, and aerospace—refining them to make them modern; isn't that the very definition of history? The bracelet plays a major role in the watch's look. Its taper from 28mm to 17mm is magnificent, even if it does evoke the bracelet of an Italian icon. Finally, the floating seconds hand is the star, subtly understated, of this vibrant red dial. Note the highly detailed and powerful lume. A triumph.
