Cette montre a été achetée pour compléter une collection versatile et où je recherchais une montre squelette… mais je n’achète pas de montre si je ne sais pas lire l’heure ! Bref, j’ai mis du temps à trouver. Sensible au design en général, Ciga Design m’avait plu et j’ai pris le risque sans l’essayer (à cette époque, la distribution était essentiellement en ligne). Je dois reconnaitre que le service de suivi fut de très bonne qualité… ou presque : suite à la commande, je n’ai plus eu aucune nouvelle. Étant occupé à d’autres activités, j’avoue avoir laissé trainer un peu avec une attente de type « kickstarter ». J’ai même fait l’erreur de m’imaginer ne pas l’avoir commandée (erreur de paiement). Bref, j’en ai commandé une seconde ! Pour le coup, ils ont répondu immédiatement en demandant si ce n’était pas une erreur et ont remboursé le montant qui n’avait pas encore été débité, puisque non envoyé. Bref, du sérieux.
Parlons montre. La montre était livrée avec un bracelet en caoutchouc de belle qualité, mais je préférais une maille milanaise. Les deux bracelets sont de très bonne facture, rien à redire. Le boitier est imposant avec une dimension de 45 mm sans la couronne et une épaisseur de 12 mm. Et elle en impose, même sur un poignet de 19.5 cm ! Toutefois, le porté est très confortable avec le boitier qui s’incurve vers le fond pour ne plus faire de 33 mm. C’est souvent efficace avec ces grosses montres, comme l’	Atacama de chez Laco. Le design du cadran semi-squeletté est juste ce qu’il faut pour le pas perdre les aiguilles de vue, mais tout de même apprécier le mécanisme chinois qui tourne bien. Ce qui est le plus beau est certainement la forme de coupe du rehaut qui remonte incurvé vers la lunette et est stoppé par le verre saphir plat qui rehausse encore le design. Le fond présente un mini chanfrein qui cadre, un peu comme une lunette, le verre permettant d’observer le mécanisme c’est vraiment une montre dessinée dans tous ses détails (Michael Young) et qui bonne une véritable impression de qualité. C’est appréciable et on comprend pourquoi elle avait été primée en 2017 par l’IFA.
Concernant le mécanisme dans la montre est un Seagull. C’est sympa regarder, c’est correct au niveau de la dérive (+20 secondes/jour) pour ce niveau de mécanisme. 
Son seul grand défaut, c’est le bruit du mécanisme : remontage, masse oscillante très présente au poignet, le tic-tac… Bref, à ne pas prendre dans un monastère. Pour le reste, elle répond totalement à mon objectif et je la porte à l’occasion comme une montre de ville. Elle attire toujours l’attention d’un curieux qui croit qu’elle a coûté des milliers d'euros. Laissons croire...

Being generally drawn to design, I liked Ciga Design and took the plunge without trying it on (at that time, distribution was mainly online). I must admit that the customer service was very good… or almost: after placing the order, I heard nothing more. Being busy with other things, I confess I let things drag on a bit, with a kind of "Kickstarter" waiting period. I even made the mistake of thinking I hadn't ordered it (payment error). So, I ordered a second one! This time, they responded immediately, asking if it was a mistake, and refunded the amount that hadn't yet been debited, since it hadn't been shipped. In short, they were very professional. Let's talk about the watch. The watch came with a nice quality rubber strap, but I would have preferred a Milanese mesh. Both straps are very well made, no complaints there. The case is imposing, measuring 45 mm without the crown and 12 mm thick. And it certainly makes a statement, even on a 19.5 cm wrist! However, it's very comfortable to wear thanks to the case curving towards the back, reducing its thickness to 33 mm. This is often effective with these large watches, like the Laco Atacama. The semi-skeletonized dial design is just right, keeping the hands clear while still allowing you to appreciate the smooth-running Chinese movement. The most striking feature is undoubtedly the curved shape of the flange, which curves upwards towards the bezel and is stopped by the flat sapphire crystal, further enhancing the design. The case back features a small chamfer that frames the crystal, a bit like a bezel, allowing you to observe the movement. It's truly a watch designed with meticulous attention to detail (Michael Young) and gives a genuine impression of quality. This is commendable, and one understands why it won an award at the 2017 IFA.

The movement inside the watch is a Seagull. It's pleasing to the eye, and the rate of deviation is acceptable (+20 seconds/day) for this level of movement.

Its only major drawback is the noise of the mechanism: the winding, the oscillating weight being quite noticeable on the wrist, the ticking… In short, not something to wear in a monastery. Otherwise, it perfectly meets my needs, and I wear it occasionally as a dress watch. It always attracts the attention of a curious onlooker who thinks it cost thousands of euros. Let's just say they think so…
