When "carrying a Pepsi" takes on its full meaning

As a die-hard Victorinox fan for years, I was thrilled when Dialicious announced a meet-up with the brand as a guest last year. Using their knives, luggage, watches, and even their fragrances daily, I wanted to come to the meet-up wearing a unique accessory. So I started my search. I wasn't specifically looking for a watch, but something a little out of the ordinary. I stumbled upon a really nice vest on Vinted, which I bought to test the quality of their fabric (it confirmed their consistently excellent value for money). I also bought a similarly stylish beanie. And while browsing eBay, I came across an ad for what appeared to be a promotional Pepsi quartz watch, but it turned out to be the gem I was looking for! Quite simple, a high-quality brushed steel case with a pleasing 38mm diameter. Screw-down case back engraved "Victorinox Swiss Army" with 100m water resistance. A non-original but good quality strap, and above all, a blue that perfectly matches the dial. And above all, a beautiful blue dial, with numeral markers at 12 o'clock and a 24-hour scale in the outer minute track. The red shield is at 12 o'clock with "Swiss Army" written below it. And most importantly, the "Pepsi" logo at 6 o'clock. The color harmony is perfect: - blue: dial and Pepsi logo - white: markers, minute track, hands, outline of the Victorinox shield, and Pepsi logo - red: only on the two logos It immediately caught my eye, and at €80, I added it to my favorites right away. But it was by doing more research on the model that I realized what a gem I had found. Indeed, another listing for a similar watch, but already sold, was on eBay. This one features the same Pepsi logo, but comes in a special box with two very special coins/medals. After carefully examining the photos and reading the description, I realized these watches weren't promotional at all, as Victorinox has never made promotional watches for Pepsi. They were watches given to American PepsiCo delivery drivers to congratulate them on five years of service to the company without an accident. Upon learning this, I obviously ordered this gem immediately. How did it end up in Spain? No idea! But it's by far the most unique watch in my collection, a watch that sparks conversation, a story to tell, and all for almost nothing… Sometimes it's the search, the discovery, and the story that surpass the object itself. And I think that perfectly represents the passion of collecting.
