A few months ago, I stumbled upon an Instagram ad for the Lucky Harvey Sound of Nature. As is often the case with Chinese watches, the marketing was effective and well-targeted. I followed the link, which led me to a Kickstarter page. As has become quite common, the watches are sold via pre-order on a crowdfunding platform to capitalize on the impulsive buying reaction to this marketing campaign. For once, I managed to avoid the trap, probably because at that moment I didn't want to spend €900 on a new watch and figured I'd find it later secondhand for the same price after trying it on. But once on that darn crowdfunding platform, I lingered and got hooked on another watch: this Delcona. Since buying my Cricket, I'd wanted to add a watch with a sound complication to my collection. The design, similar to my Venezianico Arsenale, with its purple dial, the included purple rubber strap, and the affordable price (€360 including customs duties), finally sealed the deal for me, and I contributed to the campaign. A few months later (a slight delay due to a copyright check issue…), the watch arrived. The box was nice for the price. Upon unpacking the watch, I was rather disappointed. The audible complication is just a faint "ting" when the hour passes. It's only audible in a quiet room. This "ting" doesn't seem to be adjustable and doesn't occur precisely when the minute hand passes the 12 o'clock marker. The case is quite thick, and the finishing is much less refined than on my Arsenale. Once I got over this disappointment, I decided to put the purple rubber strap on it. The change was quite easy, and the rubber strap is better finished than the Venezianico's, despite a significant price difference. Ultimately, with: - this colorful strap and dial - the fact that the watch wasn't expensive - the subtle chime when the hour passes This watch has found its place in my collection. Matching one of my sneakers, I like to wear it for sports or to complete a streetwear look. The chime doesn't need to be turned off and remains pleasant when working or reading, as it discreetly allows you to keep track of time without constantly glancing at the clock. It just goes to show that a disappointment at first can turn into a pleasant surprise over time. Which is usually the opposite for me. PS: I later tried the Lucky Harvey and found the chime just as quiet as the Delcona, so I'm not disappointed to have spent only €360 on a chiming watch.
