I've always wanted to buy a Yema, but several criteria were missing before I could take the plunge. Now, everything is there with this Superman Dato. Yema has become a French manufacturer with a high-quality movement created by Olivier Moris: a 70-hour power reserve, more accurate than the COSC (-1 second/day in my case), and what a beauty…

When I first picked it up, I found it a little heavy, but once on the wrist, you quickly forget you're wearing it thanks to its 39.5 mm diameter and the bracelet that perfectly hugs the wrist. The legibility is perfect, with the date ideally positioned. Yes, it has a new look compared to the previous model. Purists will certainly miss it, but since I'm not one, I prefer it this way: it's more modern, and that suits me very well.

The only criticism I could find is its 13.8 mm thickness, which is forgiven thanks to the new locking mechanism for the ceramic bezel, now bidirectional. The bracelet clasp has also been redesigned and now features a fine adjustment. It's water-resistant to 200 meters, has a sapphire crystal case back, grade A Luminova that lasts all night until morning, and finally, a date display—an essential feature for me.

So there you have it… I highly recommend it.

Yema Superman Dato, the one I was waiting for

Not a big fan of overloaded watches because of their lack of visibility, I was still attracted to the Breitling brand, especially for its history and designs. 

I recently came across a model that you don't see often, "the cockpit A9350". A Breitling without a chronograph, very readable with a small diameter and a large date. Of course, it has all the codes of the brand with the added bonus of all those of a diver's watch, which doesn't hurt. It's a 2014 watch in more than perfect condition, close to new, COSC certified. 

When I received it, I was won over by its look and condition. Combining robustness and refinement, its 14 mm thickness is quickly forgotten when you put it on your wrist. 

You don't get bored admiring all its details, such as the little B engraved on the side of the bezel. The white mother-of-pearl dial and the applied indexes reflect the light beautifully, and when they are charged with light, the luminova finely arranged on the sides of each of them brings a certain chic to the whole. It is a Tool Watch par excellence. 

Anyway, I'll stop there because I could talk about it for hours.

Breitling's favorite

I love Longines and especially the “master collection” for its vintage and modern side at the same time. After looking at its moon phase model for a long time, my choice fell on the bi-compax chrono ref: 2.629.4.783. The first criterion was the date, and yes I can no longer imagine a watch without the date.... The second its low thickness for a chrono (less than 12 mm). And finally all the details that make this watch charming. 

First of all its barley grain dial that changes from white to grayish white or even (who knows why) to a yellowed white depending on the light. Then its blued hands that change from blue to black. I also love the inclined flange that surrounds the Arabic numerals with a superbly stylized retro font. The sub-dials are furrowed/sunlit and nibble at the 3 and 9, just like the date positioned at 6 o'clock. In my eyes all this perfectly balances this dial. The crocodile strap is amazing with its double butterfly-type folding clasp, unusual on leather. There is also the open back nicely decorated with a good power reserve given at 59 hs. The only negative point that I find for its price is that it is not anti-magnetic, fortunately for me there were sales…. 

These are the reasons that made me fall for this beautiful watch, a bit sporty with the chrono and super elegant. I am getting married my son soon and there is no doubt it will be on my wrist.

Longines chrono bi-compax Master collection

No doubt this Tudor BB 58 is a great watch in its category. Suffice to say that it ticks (for me) all the boxes of a "toolwatch". What I liked above all was its diving/vintage side without crown protector, its contained thickness of 12 mm as well as its diameter of 39 mm. With its "Kénesis" manufacture caliber it has a remarkable precision on my wrist of + 1 second/day, a real treat. 
Depending on the seasons and the moment, I change its strap, the fabric for the summer, the steel and the leather in winter. Everything suits it well, I would like to find it a good rubber strap without space between the strap and the case. You will have understood I am filled with its versatility.

Tudor BB 58

Hello, In 2014 I felt the need to have a mechanical watch. Having very little experience on the subject, I modestly documented myself on the subject and very quickly the budget was a brake to have a watch to my taste. Yes, as I come from quartz, I always have an interest in precision.... After a few months of reflection, it was the KAKI FIELD that met my criteria (budget, diameter, thickness, design, water resistance and precision). Finally I turned to the occasion (almost new condition, very little worn) I kept it for several years as my main watch with a lot of pleasure. delivered with a leather strap, it is great on a nato which makes me say that its sapphire back is not necessarily necessary. What I like most about this watch is its champagne dial, the domed sapphire crystal, its hands and its water resistance to 100 m. Oh yes, what also filled me and that I discovered later, is the history of the brand and this model. Since then I have had several watches, some of which are no longer part of my collection. It is still with me even if I wear it less, I would not sell it but it is possible that it will soon end up on my son's wrist.....


First Mechanical Watch

This watch is to "symbolize" a significant moment in my life. Indeed, I hanged my wife in 2020 and during her last days she wanted me to buy myself a beautiful watch. She knew of course that I liked it and despite her state of health she still wanted to please me. After her death I bought several watches with which I could not be satisfied, I sold everything for this royal tudor which in my eyes symbolizes her moments of pain and tenderness. Hello everyone I treated myself to a Tudor Royal 38mm for my 23rd birthday, a magnificent watch that I really appreciate, very easy to wear, very light with its magnificent bracelet, satin-finished outer and center links and its Roman numerals which make the watch very sublime, waterproof to 100m which is not bad for a little swim 
38h power reserve, I would have preferred 70h anyway, otherwise I really recommend it for a first luxury watch

Tudor Royal 

For years, I have been gazing with fascination at this model from the Tudor house.
Its finely crafted integrated bracelet, its crenellated bezel and the Roman numerals have always seduced me.
I initially opted for the Tissot PRX, thinking that it was a more measured choice, less ostentatious and more sober. However, over time, it became too demure for my taste, and I parted with it. Inevitably, the Tudor Royal haunts my thoughts again.
Initially attracted by the Day Date, I was put off by its imposing diameter for my wrist. So I set my sights on the smaller version. I could have, not long ago, succumbed to the silver model... but Watches and Wonders revealed the salmon dial, causing a real thunderbolt.

Like an impressionist painting, the dial reveals a palette of changing colors, delicately shifting from bronze to pale pink, evoking the hues of a captivating twilight.
Everything about this watch begs to play with light, as if Tudor had released this model to be contemplated for hours.
Obviously, I find it perfect, although it has one flaw: its screw-down crown, which is not aligned. However, it is this imperfection that infuses this watch with a singularity, making it unique on my wrist. As Baudelaire so aptly said, "Beauty is always bizarre", and this Tudor Royal is the perfect illustration.
