I discovered Skill 6 or 7 years ago through a Facebook group, and it was love at first sight—for the brand, its values, and its creator. I met Mr. Olivier Mory in May 2021 at his workshop, where I had the opportunity to discuss and try on the different models and versions. I initially had my eye on the Sampo model, a three-hand watch with a date display at 3 o'clock. While affordable considering the piece, the price was still significant for me, so I had to save up, thinking it would be the perfect watch for my 40th birthday. I visited his workshop a few times and then switched to the M102. Time passed, and I went back to see Olivier to order my watch. I won't go into the details, but an appointment was made for my birthday to have it assembled at his workshop. The moment was truly enjoyable and pleasant; being next to my idol, who was assembling my future watch, was fantastic. Being able to choose every detail, having someone even go so far as to engrave the case back because the phrase my wife sent him was too long for the case back, is exceptional. Sorry for the long introduction, let's get to the watch… A three-hand watch with a large date display, a second time zone, and a day/night indicator. A bronze and titanium case, meticulously crafted with finishes worthy of the finest watchmakers. Every component is meticulously crafted and of exceptional quality. The dial is sumptuous; its deep blue exterior and almost pearlescent finish are stunning… the polished hour markers, the blue date discs, the blued hands that create a ghostly effect. Everything is high-quality and gives it a premium feel. Regarding the movement, it's essentially a 2892 with a Techno Time module that has been reworked and brought up to current standards by Olivier. The adjustment is simply perfect; it's between 0 and 1 second per day across all 5 positions—in other words, it's flawless. Given that the watch and its servicing are guaranteed for life, there's no need to worry about that for a long time. The strap is a high-quality ABP Cordura, perhaps a tad long, but that's just nitpicking. In short, this is a Steampunk-inspired piece reminiscent of Captain Nemo, rather imposing at 42mm, which won't suit everyone, but it possesses immense charm and a touch of poetry. A piece that will undoubtedly remain in the collection and has become its centerpiece.
