This French watch is military-style. Its deep blue dial, applied indexes, oversized screw-down crown, brushed steel case with wide lugs and a 22 mm lug space make it a virile watch but whose dial softens its military origin.
Its 39 mm diameter makes it an ideal everyday watch. Its thick and smooth leather strap from ABP (Atelier du bracelet parisien) reinforces its resistant side. A 3-hand watch, endearing, unusual and reliable. Its ETA 2824-2 movement ensures its reliability, although it would have been interesting to see it equipped with a French-speaking movement, which would have reinforced the "Made in France" proudly written at the bottom of the dial.
The watch comes with a good quality Rubber strap and a tool for removing and reassembling the strap as well as a USB key on which there is a short film on the manufacture of the watch.

An unusual French military watch

The William L small chronograph is an uninteresting watch in terms of its features. The chronograph consists of two small dials. The second hand therefore works in a common way to indicate the seconds.
Its sunray dial with affixed indexes is of rather good quality. These dauphine-type hands and the shape of the case are reminiscent of vintage watches.
William L is Guillaume Laidet's first brand and in a sense this watch is a precursor to successes in terms of the recovery of prestigious old brands. The dimensions are perfect, its engraved crown, its domed sapphire crystal, the absence of a date and the good quality bracelet with the engraved buckle, make this watch an endearing timepiece for which I always take pleasure when I wear it, although this is quite rare. A pretty simple quartz watch and vintage dress watch type.
Its flaws are the poor quality push buttons and the case back without specific treatment.

A vintage-style mount

This VOSTOK watch is of unparalleled simplicity. Its chrome-plated brass case, its dial with affixed numbers, the famous red star in place of the noon, the hand-wound movement from the Russian manufacturer and cut with a billhook, give the watch a crazy charm. A charm of yesteryear but so current with its vintage spirit.
The 40 mm case and the chrome bezel give it ideal dimensions. On the other hand, its 18 mm wide strap in "very" bad leather deserves to be replaced. I did it with a black nato which reinforces its military aspect. In addition, the engraved case back is of the most beautiful effect. The same is true for its domed acrylic glass so vintage. Despite its screw-down crown and its ingenious system of compression of the case back gasket which crushes the gasket without stretching it, it is only slightly waterproof.
For 38 euros, its purchase price at the time, I do not regret this watch. Certainly old-fashioned but full of charm.

An outdated look but so current...

The TIMEX ALLIED COASTLINE watch is a diving watch.
Green in color and with a "gun-metal" type steel case with the most beautiful effect, we can say that we get value for our money. For around 40 euros, this watch offers as much as others much more expensive.
The unidirectional bezel is perfectly aligned, its ultra-readable dial with the hands in strong contrast, is just as much at night thanks to the Indiglo, this blue backlight, which illuminates the entire dial and creates a bluffing effect.
Simple and effective, I greatly appreciate this watch.
The rubber strap is rather well finished with a locking safety on the loop is rather well thought out. It has quick releases and it is comfortable but much too long. I would replace it with a black nato to wear the watch this summer, in a field watch spirit.
Although thin, its 42 mm diameter makes it rather masculine and its green color adds the adventurer spirit and gives it a strong presence on the wrist. A watch that can do everything and can be worn on days of action.

This Casio watch is reminiscent of the famous G-SHOCK, waterproof to 100 meters, dual time zone, chronograph, ultra-readable digital screen, backlight, large side buttons and steel bezel surrounding the dial, this watch has a throwback effect and reminds me of the watches of my adolescence.
Weak, solid, inexpensive (around €35) it is an ideal watch for activities. Although a little big, it is reminiscent of the square from the G-Schok range but moves away from it in its functions.
An easy watch to wear but to be reserved rather for sunny days.

The right time

This watch was a real surprise! Ordered online, opening the box excited me like a watch rarely does. The deep blue, the contrast of its hands, the resolutely contained but quite suitable size (37 mm) makes it a simple, relevant, easy to wear and above all pretty watch. It suits me perfectly and I always take great pleasure in wearing it. Not very thick, it slips very well under the shirt sleeve. The dial is the strong point of the watch. The movement is the famous 7S26, reliable but not very precise and without stop seconds, nor winding via the crown. It is always surprising to wind your watch by shaking it! but that is part of the charm of this watch and for the precision, it is not a few seconds per day, which will change the pleasure I have in wearing it.
Its faults are the bracelet, quite low quality, but nevertheless comfortable and the 5 logo emblazoned which looks a little dated.
For less than 80 euros this watch is definitely worth the purchase and the love at first sight!

Here is a small Seiko reference 7009, I inherited it from my uncle who is unfortunately no longer with us, so I dedicate this review to him, he who was also a fan of Seiko just like me, and this watch will remind me of the good times spent with him, this Seiko was his first who bought it new in the 80s, automatic caliber reference 7009-876A day date with a tonneau case typical of his years, I had the case back engraved in his memory, don't worry uncle it is in good hands. Rest in peace!

My uncle's seiko

Here is my Seiko 5 - Snke01k1 - with an integrated case - 60 minute bezel - equipped with an automatic caliber 7S26 - shiny black dial - applied stick indexes as well as the 5 logo. Day date black background - 36 mm brushed case - the perfect watch for summer and in tune with the times with its integrated bracelet!

I really like this Seiko 5 with a diameter of 40mm which looks a bit like a Tudor bb…it is very comfortable, I wear it quite often…its diameter for a Seiko 5 is smaller because I have other Seiko 5 sport Milanese mesh which are 42mm, it is automatic with a power reserve of 42 hours…it also exists in black dial color and its public price is 270 euros.

Years ago, I was looking for a pink watch for my wife. While I was searching, I came across this little SEIKO 5 Actus with its magnificent sunray salmon dial. I thought it was beautiful in the photos, but in real life, it's magnificent. It gives the impression that the pink/salmon is metallic. Very successful.
Of course, I kept it for myself, but I still bought a pink watch for my wife (a Maurice Lacroix, she didn't lose out).
I had the SEIKO serviced a year ago because it was running a little behind schedule. Now it's very accurate; but the service cost me more than the purchase price of the watch. This is one of the problems with "cheap" vintage watches, but personally, I don't regret doing it at all, because I love this watch.
