Dream of most watch lovers, I was lucky enough to be able to afford this new sub. True to my dreams, I take great pleasure in wearing it: aesthetic, versatile, sober, luxurious, symbolic, precise, robust… it slips easily on the wrist whatever the circumstances. This watch is undeniable :-)

As per the dream

A native of Besançon and an admirer of LIP, I already had a few models and noticed this one on other enthusiasts, finding it very pretty each time. An opportunity allowed me to acquire it and enjoy it in turn. I find it very distinguished and enjoy wearing it from time to time. However, it fades a little next to better-made watches.

Distinguished

My speed is my first "high-end" watch. Given to me 4 years ago, I dreamed of it as the ultimate model, the first one I would buy when I could, the only one I would have if I had to have only one. In line with my expectations, it never ceases to satisfy me, to call me when I wear another one. Be careful though: having it does not prevent you from wanting others ;-)

THE watch

The Rolex brand was created in 1905 in London by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis. After acquiring my Rolex Datejust 41 in February, I naturally put myself on the waiting list for a Submariner. During this exchange, my sales advisor had suggested, given my seniority and our relationship of trust, that I could expect availability before the summer. Since I wasn't in a hurry—I had also acquired a TAG Heuer Monaco in the meantime—I confirmed that I could wait, even beyond the summer. However, after some thought, I called her back around noon to confirm that I would gladly take the watch as soon as it was available. And then, surprise: three hours later, my AD called me back to tell me that the Submariner had just arrived! As it turns out, yes, it is still possible to find a Rolex Submariner in a boutique… in just three hours, with a little loyalty, patience, and a good relationship with your advisor.

A Sub in less than 3 hours! Yes, it’s possible!

Model 124060 purchased in March 2021 after only 48 hours of waiting, it has never left my wrist since. You have to look past all the clichés about Rolex to appreciate the daily pleasure of this watch. Often imitated, never equaled. Its caliber 3230 is devilishly precise, forcing me to reset the time only after several months. Despite my chicken wrists, its 41mm diameter is not felt, compared to other watches, certainly, in my opinion, linked to the balance between its bezel and its dial. Major asset in its comfort: the adjustment of the bracelet allowing it to be easily adjusted in a few seconds if your wrist undergoes regular changes in size, which is my case. Finally, incredibly robust, despite its daily use whatever the situation, it does not show a trace of scratches on either its sapphire or its case. A must have in your collection.

Iconic and timeless

I had the privilege (!) of buying the latest version of the Sub in store after 1 year on the waiting list, otherwise I would never have bought it at full price on the gray market, no matter how high quality it is. In my opinion, it is the real Sub, the one without a date, the original, the historic one, the one that gives it class and perfect balance. I will not go into the usual superlatives when talking about this iconic watch, I would simply add that its greatest qualities lie, in my eyes, in its versatility and comfort of wear, thanks to its contained dimensions (diameter, thickness, lug-to-lug) and its quick adjustment system at the strap buckle.

The real Submariner

The submariner 124060 is a classic to have but which unfortunately will not skate, this is for me its only fault otherwise it is perfect because it is timeless, robust, precise and comfortable, this is why it is timeless. Be careful though with the price which is becoming crazy for a watch without complications.

A classic

I had a professional dream that I managed to achieve. My dream as a man was to conquer the brand with the crown. I had to arm myself with a lot of patience and especially a helping hand from a friend to obtain my grail. The simplicity of the model and the brilliance of the ceramic give it all the assets of luxury. I admit that I am very influenced by the marketing side and the fashion effect around Rolex, which must make my judgment less than objective. But I don't care after all because I succeeded in my quest.
