Introduced in 1926, the Oyster case marked a milestone in modern watchmaking by offering water and dust resistance. This feat was tested in real-world conditions the following year when Mercedes Gleitze swam across the English Channel wearing a Rolex Oyster. A few years later (1931), Rolex developed its first self-winding movement: the Perpetual. Heir to these two innovations, the Oyster Perpetual represents, for me, the essence of a Rolex: timelessness and technical prowess in service of function. Initially looking for a watch with an unusual dial color, I was ultimately captivated by the magnificent reflections, sometimes blue and sometimes dark green, of the Med Blue. These new lacquered dials are, for me, the greatest strength of these models. Bringing a breath of fresh air to this timeless model, they offer a completely different play of light compared to sunburst dials. I can only advise you to see them in person, as it's so difficult to capture their nuances in a photo! Its 36mm diameter and 100m water resistance allow it to be worn in all situations and almost be forgotten under a shirt cuff, were it not for its weight, which reminds us of its presence. On the downside, we can criticize its legibility in the dark, or the Rolex logo on the crown, which isn't perfectly vertical when fully wound. Minor flaws that are easily forgiven, as the OP represents the perfect daily watch, without being ostentatious!
