I've finally settled on the Op 36 after a few years of ignoring the brand. I've recently returned to it, not through the back door (many consider the Op a basic entry-level model), but through the mother of all Rolexes! Oyster case, automatic winding...what else?!
Its black dial, 36mm case, and Oyster bracelet make it the perfect everyday watch! So much so that it eclipses all others when you need something simple, versatile, and understated.

That's exactly the image I like to have of the Op: a solid and timeless watch.



Oyster Perpetual: The Quintessence of Rolex

I bought this Speedtimer brand new when it was released at Christmas 2023. JavaScript already owns a Speedtimer, also a limited edition (Crystal Trophy). Everything about this watch is perfect! Size, subdials, color palette...it goes with everything, on steel, leather, NATO strap; it suits it all!
This is the watch I recommend to anyone who wants a beautiful chronograph for under €1000. I wear it very often. I've owned several chronographs: Breitling, Speedmaster, etc., but I haven't yet found a chronograph this nice in this price range...a real success!

My favorite stopwatch!

I bought this Bulova the day I first appeared on the Dialicious channel. It's a vintage model from 1973, the year I was born. The Accutron Spaceview has existed since 1960, but TV sets like this one date from the 70s. A marvel of technology for its time, before the arrival of quartz. It's a tuning fork movement that hums when you hold the watch near your ear... personally, I find it soothing 🤣

My conversation watch!

It was the 2004 release that made me dream. At a time when Panerai was the benchmark, Cartier made a bold statement with the Santos 100, a more robust Santos designed to appeal to contemporary tastes. It retains the classic Santos design elements while offering modern durability and specifications. My model is reference 2878, the smallest size (35mm), which suits me perfectly. It has presence, style, and timeless class!

This 2015 model in 39mm is timeless! It flirts with the great complication: small seconds, day, date, month, moon phase, on a super balanced sunray gray dial, applied and polished indexes...class! The open case back allows you to appreciate a magnificent movement that takes the size of the case well. I have always had in the back of my mind the desire to own a Rolex Oyster Perpetual because it perfectly represents the spirit of the brand: a simple watch, very beautiful aesthetically but no less robust, water-resistant to 100 meters and with a good power reserve with the new OP (~70 hours). I hesitated between the green dial and the blue, the Rolex boutique called me back after a few months to inform me that they had received an OP 36 with a blue dial and I do not regret this choice at all. It goes perfectly with my outfits, such as a suit during the week, or more casual when I am on the weekend. The sunray dial that turns bright blue in the light or tends towards black when it is less lit is perfectly mastered, all while remaining not ostentatious. Indeed, the absence of a date window or other complication makes the watch relatively unrecognizable but very readable and very symmetrical. There is only the essential: hour, minute, second. Its 36 millimeter diameter makes it unisex and ideal for a man or a woman and I am very sensitive to this androgynous side whether it is a watch or a bag, which will also make the piece even more easily transferable if the time comes one day. The idea also that the Oyster Perpetual range has been part of Rolex DNA since almost its origins pleases me a lot for its historical side. In my eyes it is undoubtedly the most accomplished Rolex watch without necessarily being the most complicated or the most expensive.

The most accomplished watch

Rolex OP 36mm, purchased in 2019. This is the Rolex I've always dreamed of. When I was little, I dreamed of having an Air King (Vintage) which corresponds to the OP of today... I never get tired of it, I literally wear it on every occasion. Its proportions are perfect, it is robust, reliable, beautiful, I have also mistreated it quite a bit (but Rolex's after-sales service has always been there :) ). In addition, I lost it and found it again by chance (quite a story...). So I am eternally attached to it.

Rolex OP, the base & the class

A classic, timeless, a little snub to all these huge watches.
It's very small but it's cute.
It keeps a nice presence on the wrist.

A beautiful story.

This Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36 was a real favorite with a blue sunray dial when I first tried it on. Unfortunately, I was very naive at the time and when I said in the store "I'll buy it!", I was disappointed. Well, I was finally called back two years later. What a joy! I find it magnificent, extremely simple. A magnificent dial. And I like the discreet bracelet, totally brushed compared to the DJs. You can use it all the time for everything!

Rolex OP 36 - blue dial

Rolex a brand that leaves no one indifferent, me first. At first I hesitated for a long time with a model in 41 due to the prism of this "man's size" size that I ultimately find not at all adapted to my wrist. The 36 historical size, proportion that I find ideal. Concerning the choice, it was a real favorite on this green dial, which I never stop discovering at each outing depending on the inclination, depending on the light a real treat. This watch has an important sentimental value for me, it marks several positive events for this year 2024. In short for me this watch has a lot of qualities and very few defects for the moment I can't see any I will make an edit in case that happens!
