I have rarely felt so much pleasure wearing a watch.

The design of the titanium Concorde is very successful, its lightness, and its extremely well-made bracelet, seamlessly integrated into the case.

This model, compared to the steel versions, does not have a date window, which, in my opinion, is a plus in terms of the dial's balance and the symmetry of its hour markers.
Its 36mm diameter is perfect for my 16cm wrist.
Its dial is sublime; depending on the time and the lighting, it reveals 50 shades of gray!

Unfortunately, after a few days, the balance wheel seemed to malfunction, and the watch stopped running on my wrist. So I sent it back to Pequignet.

After contacting them, it was confirmed that there was indeed a slight friction between the balance wheel and a part of the case, preventing it from winding automatically.

I will receive it repaired next week, and I can't wait to wear it again.

One minor drawback that will be corrected in a future update of the in-house caliber: When winding the crown, a slight metallic friction is noticeable, which may be surprising compared to winding other calibers on the market.

50 shades of titanium!

I have been wearing it for a few weeks, I did not want the metal bracelet but rather the rubber which fits the case just as well. This watch is perfect, even for a 16cm wrist, with its 38.5 cm diameter it is large with its dial opening. Its readability is exceptional in all conditions.

Sublimely boring!

Pequignet is a French watch brand founded in 1973 in Morteau by &Eacute;mile P&eacute;quignet; after an early chapter shaped by jewelry-inflected design (the Moorea bracelet), the company set up a Haute Horlogerie lab in the 2000s, from which came French-made movements &mdash; Calibre Royal (2011), Calibre Royal Manuel (2018), Calibre Initial (2021) and, more recently, a tourbillon &mdash; that now underpin contemporary collections combining useful complications, clarity and a distinctly national identity.

Beyond functions, development required 279 industrial drawings for a 318-component movement (316 proprietary parts), protected by multiple patents, with a large balance showcased through a sapphire back, and the brief openly champions &ldquo;unfussy Haute Horlogerie,&rdquo; advancing technique and clarity together.
Housed across steel, titanium or gold cases (Royale Paris, Royale Grand Sport, Royale Titane, Saphir editions), the Calibre Royal also spawned a hand-wound version (2018) and a recent flying tourbillon, widening the aesthetic spectrum without diluting the signature, and coherence stands out: shared dial grammar, clear displays, one pillar movement.

There are watches that seduce through an accumulation of complications, brilliance, and ostentation, and others that impress through subtraction. This Péquignet unequivocally belongs to the latter category. I didn't choose it for what it displays, but for what it refuses to display. And that's precisely what made it an instant favorite at WLW before becoming, today, a watch I truly chose to buy.

The initial shock is primarily formal. The case design, with its softened yet firmly structured lines, clearly belongs to the legacy of the 1970s, a decade when watchmaking engaged with brutalism, industrial design, and functional utopia. I recognize in it a lineage I've often discussed in Dialicious: this ability to create a form without striving for a signature style at all costs. One might think of Gérald Genta, of course, but here freed from any ornamental temptation. Perhaps closer to Dieter Rams's philosophy applied to watchmaking: "Less, but better." Nothing is there to seduce. Everything is there to serve.

The sandblasted titanium case is an almost militant response to the contemporary overdose of mirror-polished surfaces and dials that prioritize effect over function. It's exactly the kind of choice I've often championed in my Dialicious reviews: a material that absorbs light instead of reflecting it, that exists through its presence rather than its brilliance. It's an aesthetic of tool, not jewelry—an approach that evokes aeronautical design as much as the essential lines of Naoto Fukasawa, or even the silent volumes of the late Bauhaus, where form always stems from function.

On the wrist, the lightness of the titanium is almost disconcerting. The case is thin, perfectly balanced, and the watch physically disappears without ever visually vanishing. It's a feeling I've already described in Dialicious: the idea that a truly successful watch is sometimes one you forget to wear, because it feels so perfect. Here, this balance is particularly well achieved.

The dial takes this logic to its logical conclusion. Uncluttered, legible, almost ascetic, it avoids the trap of decorative minimalism that I've sometimes criticized in reviews. The openworked hands provide the necessary graphic tension: a play of solids and voids reminiscent of both certain constructivist explorations and Calder's subtle balances, where movement, emptiness, and structure coexist without hierarchy. They aren't there to seduce. They structure the space.

The strap deserves special mention. I've often emphasized in Dialicious that a poorly designed strap can ruin an excellent watch. Here, it's quite the opposite. It's fully integrated into the design, fluid, ergonomic, and consistent with the case. It contributes to this overall feeling of continuity and obvious functionality. Nothing is spectacular. Everything is relevant.

The crown is a detail I particularly appreciate. Predictable on paper, but remarkable in use. Good grip, legible, unfussy. A crown designed to be used, not photographed—exactly what I've long advocated in my reviews.

And then there's the case back. Openworked, yes, but without mechanical narcissism. I've often been critical of overly revealing transparent case backs; here, Péquignet strikes just the right balance. The in-house movement allows itself to be observed without being ostentatious. No flashy finishes, no over-the-top theatrics. Honest, balanced mechanics, perfectly in keeping with the whole.

Conclusion

This watch isn't a show of force. It's a demonstration of mastery.

It naturally fits into the continuum of what I've analyzed and championed for a long time in Dialicious: watchmaking of choice, coherence, and restraint. A timepiece that speaks to those who have moved beyond the initial dazzle and now seek meaning rather than noise. And then there's that detail, discreet yet laden with symbolism: the fleur-de-lis. An almost silent sign that immediately transports me back to Paris, to its coat of arms, to that motto that now accompanies me as much as this watch: Fluctuat nec mergitur. Tossed by the currents, but never submerged.

That's precisely what this Péquignet tells us. A watch that doesn't seek to shine in the storm, but remains steady, true to its course. A watch for a time of maturity. And it was clearly the right time for me.

Initial Caliber, the third movement, designed and assembled in France by the Pequignet Manufacture. Its spear links are a subtle nod to the obelisk of the famous Parisian square from which the Concorde is located.

Pequignet Concorde 

A watch that marks a revival of the French watchmaking industry, both in terms of design and technology, as well as sustainability and economics.

This watch is powered by an Initial Caliber, the caliber designed and developed by Pequignet engineers in the early 2020s, requiring the filing of two international patents. The efficiency of bidirectional winding and the date display are at the heart of these patents, and frankly, it's a pleasure to wear innovation.

The caliber offers a 65-hour power reserve (which is very pleasant when you want to change watches during the week) and is superbly precise.
This same caliber was recently Viper-certified for a limited edition, which demonstrates the quality of the design.

The strap is super comfortable (it doesn't pull on the hairs!), and the watch fits perfectly on the wrist. I chose the 36mm after hesitating over its 40mm sibling, but I must admit that the flatness, with less than 10mm thickness, is a reminder of why it's described as both sporty and chic.

The links of the steel bracelet are reminiscent of the obelisk on the Place de la Concorde, which is a detail, but one I totally appreciated!

The movement components are sourced less than 80km from the factory in Morteau, and nearly three-quarters are French!
Subcontractors can then keep up with the latest innovations! This is fantastic news for our watchmaking industry.

I know the Rose dial won't please everyone, but other variations are available. I was hesitant about the Champagne dial, for example.

Recently, the Concorde was released in Titanium, and I had the chance to wear it on my wrist. A silver dial, a ruthenium movement that enhances its stealth, and extremely lightweight, of course! To be continued 👍🏻
