I entered the world of Panerai with this Luminor Panerai model, reference PAM00111. For many years, I'd been eyeing the window of an official authorized dealer in Portugal. The temptation was overwhelming when I saw this ad in the Panerai enthusiasts group on Facebook.

I find it remarkable, with its sandwich dial that plays beautifully with the sunlight, especially at sunset. It's a real pleasure to wear and to change the strap. I appreciate its polished case, which is surprising on a tool watch, where the case is usually brushed.
This watch is a magnificent pre-owned model that was serviced at Panerai, and it was the previous owner's first Panerai.
I'm so glad I stumbled upon it.

The Italian diver

The term "icon" is often used, sometimes incorrectly, but here you'll agree that the Sub 300T, with its sunburst and silver dial, is a direct nod to the Sub 300T Conquistador tradition.
The Sub tradition began with the Sub 300 in 1967, and soon afterward, in 1969, the Sub 300T was designed in collaboration with Claude Wesly, a member of Jacques-Yves Cousteau's crew. The new diver's watch boasted numerous innovations: case, crown, rotating bezel with its double scale, dial, hands, automatic movement with date, adjustable steel bracelet, and the most important innovation, the helium escape valve. The brand is keen to emphasize that it worked rigorously and scientifically.
The helium escape valve, developed jointly with Rolex, has now become a standard feature in all professional diver's watches. It allows the evacuation of helium molecules, which, being smaller than those of oxygen or nitrogen, can penetrate the case and, under underwater pressure, dislodge the watch crystal.
And if it's called Sub 300T, it's because of the tritium that coats its indexes and hands in very large quantities to provide the greatest luminescence. The tritium has been replaced by luminova.
I had intended to buy this diver's watch, but the brand wasn't distributed in France. In 2023, my favorite watchmaker, Stéphane Clouzeau, became the brand's first distributor! On June 9, 2023, he organized a brand presentation evening. Happy to rediscover this legendary diving brand, I was there in Pithiviers with other watch fans. The first thing I noticed was that a Doxa Sub 300 has a smaller dial opening than a 300T. This was the point that stumped me the most, but the differences don't stop there. The Sub 300T has a more interesting clasp than the 300, allowing the watch to be easily adjusted to the right size via a simple adjustment (see photo).
Personally, I was unsure which model to choose between the Sub 300 Professional with an orange dial and the Sub 300T Searambler. I admit that the choice was made very quickly early in the evening, as the Sub 300T had so many important features.

The dimensions of the 300T versus the 300 are:
- Diameter tied! 42.50 mm x 44.50 mm (same dimensions);
- Thickness 13.65 mm for the 300T versus 13.40 mm for the 300;
- Water resistance 1,200 meters for the 300T versus 300 meters for the 300.

I find the watch very comfortable to wear. Its silver sunray dial is magnificent in the sun, creating irises of color. The touches of Luminova on this sunray dial make it magnificent. The case, the finish of the bezel, the crown, the rice grain bracelet, and the engravings on the caseback of the watch demonstrate the brand's real attention to detail.
Unfortunately, I find that, unlike in the past, the Luminova is a little weak, and compared to my divers, a Seiko SKX is more luminescent.
Despite everything, the watch is beautiful and solid. The few Atlantic waves last summer didn't affect it.
I recommend this brand to anyone looking for an original watch with a touch of history.

The Doxa Sub is an icon!

The Eska brand, which disappeared in the 20th century, was revived by two entrepreneurs passionate about watchmaking.
The idea was a good one and was shared by numerous YouTube channels. I admit I wasn't tempted by this Kickstarter with a Seiko movement, which I certainly like, but not at the price of 880 euros.
A new edition was released in black with a Sellita, and the desire returned for a price around 1,000 euros.
During the peak season, I fell for this smoked red version. I love the contrast of the indexes with this smoked red dial. The bezel is simple, and I would have liked the coating to be domed to reinforce its 1970s style. The charger strap included in the pack was also a factor that triggered the purchase. As a lucky owner of a Zenith Tonneau, this strap is super comfortable, and having it on this Eska made me want it.

I love this Eska, which is supposedly a revival of the Amphibian 600. It's comfortable to wear, and the strap contributes to that. Perhaps the intention was to say it's the 250 to avoid designing a watch resistant to 600m. I love the smoked red dial and the contrast with the indexes and bezel.
The bezel's clicking sound is very pleasant. I don't know if I'd put it in water because I'm not convinced of its robustness.
It's a pretty, pleasant watch with a seventies look that's a pleasure to wear.

A forgotten legend resurrected!

Having acquired this Tudor Black Bay at the very beginning of COVID, I had no idea I would spend so much time with it.
This elegant watch is a tribute to 1958, hence the 58 in its brand name.
After five years, I'm still crazy about its black dial with the railway, the indexes, the gold-colored hands, and its bezel with its red triangle at 12 o'clock.
I added an extension that's the same as the easy link system at Rolex. It's the Steel Reef brand.
My son has already put an option on this one... I'll give it a service before selling it to him.
It's an elegant, precise, and very comfortable watch.

A future collector's item for future generations!

I was interested in the history of Formex and I was charmed by it.
The Formex Essence Leggera is a light and elegant watch. Its carbon fiber case is topped with a ceramic bezel, a material that is also found on the signed crown. The green dial sports a "teak" pattern with the most beautiful effect. It knows how to remain discreet as well as play with the light to the point of having a syntillant emerald green.
I chose the green leather which suits it perfectly. It comes with two strands to cover the points from 16 to 20 cm and a carbon buckle with the possibility of quick adjustment.
It is a comfortable watch to wear every day.
The movement is a Sellita SW200-1 chronometer-certified (with the dated COSC booklet with the measurements of the movement of your watch).

Sporty and elegant

The Seamaster Diver 300M is a watch that embodies elegance, robustness and precision. Its iconic design made famous by the James Bond license features a wavy ceramic dial reminiscent of ocean waves. The factory ceramic of this Seamaster constantly plays with light. It is a real pleasure to look at it. Its co-axial movement is of formidable precision. This Seamaster is elegant, precise and reliable. Its design with the unscrewable Helium valve at 10 o'clock will not please everyone and yet that is what makes it unique. I am happy to have acquired it 20 years after having had views on the first models of this watch.

New arrival in my Panerai collection this Luminor Marina PAM564 Bettarini case of 44mm. Very pleasant and soft to wear, thanks to the titanium, and especially to a very contained thickness 13 mm. Magnificent, sausage dial, dark chocolate. Sapphire case back which leaves the P5000 movement partially visible. Water resistance 300m. I like the brushed titanium finishes which give it an elegant and sober look while emphasizing the tool watch aspect.

Luminor Marina 8 Days Titane

I bought myself this PAM00111 second-hand in 2018 and since then it's been love at first sight. I love its sandwich dial, its cushion case and the crown protector. A watch on which I change the strap like I change my t-shirt as it gives it a completely different look depending on whether it's on a canvas or a nato for a more sporty look or on leather for a more elegant look.

A classic but also elegant diver

I chose this watch more than a decade ago. Being a woman I didn't like the watches that were branded for women and I was looking for a bigger model and most importantly, a watch that wasn't on every woman's wrist. I love the timeless design, the size, the character of this piece, that suits me as a wearer. The alligator wristband will soon be changed for a new one,  alligator it will be once again, to add the classic touch for an everyday wear. I regularly look at other options to add a new piece  to my collection,  but till now I haven't found anything that makes my heart beat like my Panerai

The watch I will never be tired to wear

The latest arrival in my collection, this Panerai seduced me with its contained diameter of 40mm and its water resistance to 300m. This model is no longer produced and has been replaced by the Quaranta with the same diameter with a thinner case but with a lower water resistance of 100m. It also has the particularity of having a cyclops for the date. Its massive style and its very luminescent indexes make this watch immediately recognizable with its famous crown protector and its rubber very pleasant to wear. It should be noted however that this watch is relatively heavy even if you get used to it quickly.

Panerai Luminor Marina PAM00048

This Luminor Marina is the watch of my 40th birthday. I chose it in this version, PAM 177, in Titanium version, with transparent case back. I particularly like the Titanium finish, matte, more discreet than the versions in shiny steel. It is imposing (44mm in diameter and 15mm in height) and will be less suitable for watch lovers with small wrists. The design of the Luminor Marina is recognizable among thousands, with its protective crown for the winder, its Arabic numerals (3 - 6 - 12 visible), its small seconds and its hands and indicators painted in Luminor. I have been wearing it very regularly for almost 10 years, more on weekends or on vacation (with its magnificent rubber strap stamped Officine Panerai), because with a suit or a shirt, it is a little thick. This model is mechanically wound, with a power reserve of 56 hours, in reality closer to 48 hours. Its Swiss ETA 6497/2 movement (OP XI caliber) is a little fragile: in almost 10 years, it has gone to after-sales service 3 times, each time because the winding spring had broken. I should point out that I am very meticulous, that I do not wind it until it is blocked (it is very possible that I will not reach the 56 hours of reserve for this reason) and that I do not do any violent sports with it (golf or tennis). The first two times, in direct after-sales service, I was not very satisfied. The third time, with the help of Maison Bucherer in Paris, the intervention seems to have definitively solved the problem and for more than 4 years, it has been running like clockwork. I wear this watch with different bracelets, a black leather one from the house, the rubber bracelet, but also Natos. I will keep this watch without hesitation, it is rare in this Titanium version and I love its iconic design. If you want to discover it, it is presented in an episode of Petites Montres entre amis.
