My attraction to the Seamaster began in 1995 with the release of the film Goldeneye, the 17th installment of the famous British secret agent 007, played by Pierce Brosnan. I'd always been drawn to this model, without ever trying it on... until the day I took the plunge while passing by an Omega store. So I tried on the 42mm Seamaster 300M model and was very disappointed because the watch didn't really appeal to me. I found it a bit small and lacking in presence on my wrist. But my interest immediately turned to the 44mm chronograph model in the window, and it was instantly captivated, and I fell in love with it. For my 40th birthday, I succumbed to the siren song (which was fitting for a Seamaster) and treated myself to this model, which I had set my sights on a few years ago. What I love about this watch is a combination of features. First of all, aesthetically, its blue dial, engraved with waves, adds relief and depth. This same dial, which is enhanced when immersed in its natural element, namely water, exudes an absolutely magnificent shade of blue. Then there's a blue ceramic bezel, as well as blue ceramic accents serving as chronograph pushers; it's a stunning effect. The technical side is not to be outdone, with the automatic coaxial caliber 9900 offering ultimate precision, being certified as a master chronometer and METAS approved (with the option to download the certificate for your own watch from the Omega website). It's also visible, as the transparent case back reveals the Côtes de Genève (Geneva stripes) that adorn the plates and the movement's oscillating weight, like a nautilus shell. However, this watch is not without its flaws. While its size won me over (44mm diameter and 17.20mm thickness), its volume may not be appreciated by everyone and won't fit every wrist. Add to that the 211-gram weight with the steel bracelet, and you're clearly looking at a massive watch, but it's never uncomfortable or awkward to wear. That's why I adorn it in the summer with an Omega NATO strap from the "summer blue" collection, bringing the weight down to a more "reasonable" 134 grams. As you can see, I'm captivated by the range of blue emanating from my Seamaster 300M chronograph (even more so with its "summer blue" NATO strap) and the emotion it evokes.
