Rado Captain Cook bronze bordeaux (ref: R32504407). This watch has a special flavor for me because I fell in love with it about 1 year ago. I am a modest amateur online poker player and I challenged myself to finance it with my winnings. It has been a source of motivation for me to work on my game but also of self-denial because I have spent an average of 4 evenings per week "grinding" for almost 1 year to collect the necessary 2300€. It required so much effort from me that the pleasure of wearing it is immeasurable!

This is a superb 42 mm diver's watch, water-resistant to 300 meters with its screw-down crown. The case is made of brushed bronze. However, this is a special alloy since classic bronze is a mixture of copper and tin while this one is made of copper and aluminum (copper-aluminum or CuAl). The objective is to reduce oxidation as much as possible to greatly limit the patina. The case back engraved with 3 seahorses is made of titanium. The red ceramic bezel is slightly concave, which gives it the curve of a Roman amphitheater.

The dial is beautifully sunlit with chocolate tones against the light. The date in red is located at 3 o'clock and changes in a flash at midnight (top!). Finally, the dial proudly displays the Rado coat of arms at 12 o'clock, which represents an anchor that moves with the movements of the wrist. The burgundy nato strap with its gold edging and bronze buckles is of excellent quality and goes perfectly with this flamboyant timepiece.

The power reserve is 80 hours thanks to the Rado 763 automatic caliber (a modified ETA C07 base).

Regarding the few minor drawbacks, we can note the noise of the 120-click unidirectional bezel which is a bit "cheap" as well as a significant amount of play. Finally, I think that this diver would have deserved an ISO 6425 "Diver's watch" certification.

If you are looking for a bronze watch, I can only recommend this model which certainly will not go unnoticed but will offer you a visual spectacle at all times.

I came, I saw, I conquered

(Citizen Promaster Marine Ref: NY0141-10L). I was looking for a real diving watch that was not too expensive to go to the beach in the summer. I quickly chose this superb Citizen.
This model was worn in the 90s by divers of the Italian army. Its robustness is also highlighted thanks to the famous story of this Promaster found on an Australian beach covered with concretions after spending several years in the water and which was still working....
I was immediately attracted by this pretty blue sunray dial, its crown at 8 o'clock and its sharp aluminum bezel which give it an aggressive and sporty look.
Citizen has taken into account the remarks that had been made on the previous model by equipping this Promaster with the in-house 8204 movement with stop seconds and a precise 120-click bezel without the slightest play. The most important improvement is the presence on this new model of a sapphire crystal!
This model at less than 300€ is ISO 6425 certified, i.e. "Diving watch" 

The readability is excellent and it is a real flashlight in the dark. The polyurethane strap with its extensions for diving suits is quite pleasant but has the unfortunate tendency to get dirty.
Similarly, we can regret the abandonment of the engraving of the Promaster logo on the case back as well as this new crown that I find a little less beautiful.
Finally, its 44 mm is very well worn thanks to a very contained horn to horn.
In conclusion, I can only recommend this Citizen if you are looking for a diving watch with a rather atypical look and which will accompany you perfectly in your nautical escapades!

Guaranteed to make a splash without flopping!

Under this deliberately provocative title, I present to you my Damasko (*) DF20 Old Radium with a "Top" finish. Given Damasko's DNA, a very technical presentation is in order!

Damasko is a small, family-run watch manufacturer whose philosophy is to offer robust and reliable German watches. Keen to uphold these values, Damasko focuses primarily on research and development, advanced materials engineering, the manufacture of in-house movements, and maximizing internal production (approximately 90%). Investing very little in marketing and with a limited distribution network, this watchmaker remains relatively exclusive (often overshadowed by Sinn) and caters to a discerning clientele.

This Field Watch incorporates military design elements with typography reminiscent of the markings on ammunition crates or military vehicles. It boasts exceptional durability with its hardened submarine steel case. The case's robust construction allows for a 200m water resistance rating with a thickness of only 9.5mm!
The dial features a layer of Superluminova Old Radium X1C1 beneath it, overlaid with a subdial where the hour markers and Arabic numerals are cut out. This gives real depth to the matte black dial, which features a grained texture in the center and smooth edges. In addition to the logo, the name "Damasko" is painted, along with the inscriptions "Manufaktur Mechanisch" and "Made in Germany." All these elements contribute to its delightfully vintage look.

The hour and minute hands are syringe-shaped. After a few days of use, I feel compelled to comment on these. The difference in length is quite slight, making it difficult to distinguish them at a glance. Furthermore, the tips are painted black, rendering them invisible as they don't contrast with the identical dial color. In contrast, the seconds hand stands out perfectly with its orange color and generous length, gently touching the minute track.
The logoed but non-screw-down crown and its stem are also made of hardened steel. Furthermore, it features a complex patented system that makes it extremely durable and water-resistant, with permanent lubrication ensuring added robustness. The crown teeth are very sharp, providing excellent grip when winding the A-26 caliber (***).

Regarding the strap, several options are available, including a hardened steel bracelet, also manufactured by Damasko (€700 extra). Personally, I chose the "Roby" strap in black rubber with orange stitching and an orange interior, which is very comfortable to wear.

Damasko is sometimes criticized for prioritizing readability at the expense of a certain "austerity" in its dials. This time, Damasko breaks with its own established aesthetic with this textured, sandwich dial that I never tire of admiring from every angle. With a much more accessible look, I think this DF20 marks a turning point for the Bavarian brand.

Regarding the price, in this configuration, my Damasko DF20 with the "TOP" finish and "Roby" strap is offered at €2,250.
The near absence of marketing allows for a larger percentage to be dedicated to the watch's intrinsic value, such as the high quality of the materials and the investment in machinery that facilitates in-house manufacturing.

However, this lack of brand recognition means it's not a "status" watch, but rather a brand for discerning connoisseurs. With this Damasko, I feel I've reached a certain level of horological maturity, and I can proudly claim to wear a true in-house manufactured piece ready to compete with more "mainstream" brands. Considering these points, this Damasko DF20 appears to me as the ultimate Field Watch, easily standing up to comparison with a Sinn 856 Tegiment, an IWC Pilot Mark, or a Tudor Ranger.

(*) Damasko was founded in 1994 by the German engineer Konrad Damasko. He dedicated himself to researching technological innovations related to watchmaking. The company quickly specialized in the manufacture of extremely resistant steel alloys (underwater hardened steel, "ice-hardened" steel). Damasko manufactured watch cases for Sinn until 2002 before accelerating the development of its own movements. Today, Damasko is a benchmark in the field of watchmaking technological innovation, with around a hundred other patents filed (ceramic micro-ball bearings, silicon balance springs (since 2008), patented EPS balance spring, patented push-button system, etc.). They are also one of the few manufacturers currently offering chronographs with a central minute counter.

(**) Underwater-hardened steel case: Unlike 316L steel, which has a hardness of approximately 280 HV (Vickers), Damasko's underwater-hardened steel reaches 1500 HV, making it about five times stronger. Furthermore, this underwater steel, which notably equips German Type 212A U-boats, offers exceptional corrosion resistance.

(***) Damasko A26 manufacture caliber: This caliber is based on the architecture of an ETA 2824. It is entirely manufactured in-house. Damasko has significantly improved it to eliminate the known weaknesses of the ETA movement. In particular, they have integrated a bidirectional ratchet winding system, a rotor mounted on two ceramic ball bearings, a transverse balance bridge, and hardened steel wear parts instead of brass or steel.

The advantage of this in-house caliber is that, unlike many manufacture movements, it can be repaired by any watchmaker, and its parts are interchangeable with those of the ETA 2824. It is offered with the standard "elaboré" finish or in a "TOP" version [gold-plated Glucydur balance, finished and optimized barrel (internal polishing of the barrel, pre-stretched and calibrated mainspring for uniform force), increased precision in the machining and polishing of the gear teeth, improved accuracy and stability].

It is tested in 6 positions with a maximum tolerance of 20 seconds between each position. I tested my unit in 6 positions with an average of -0.7 seconds per day.



You dream of a Damasko but you don't know it yet...

Breitling Chronomat ref: B13050.1 (produced in the mid-90s. Automatic chronograph equipped with the Valjoux 7750 caliber. My model has the particularity of having the 4 riders as well as the logo applied in 18K gold. I fell for its silver dial which contrasts magnificently with the gold parts. The guilloché on half of the surface gives it a real elegance without overloading the watch.

The 3 circled sub-counters are adorned with very fine micro-grooves. The unbalance of the chrono hand proudly displaying the brand logo contributes to the distinguished charm of the beauty.

In short, it seduced me from the first glance....

Dressed with its alligator strap, it is also very pleasant to wear with its contained diameter of 39mm.

Two small remarks concerning the crown that I do not find very grippable as well as the screws and riders that can get caught in clothes.

The Chronomat is an icon of the brand in the same way as the Navitimer and this is explained by its immediately identifiable bezel but also its timeless charm and of course an irreproachable quality of finish.

No need for wings to fly!

(Speedmaster Moonwatch Co-Axial/ Hesalite/ solid case back/ steel bracelet /Reference: 310.30.42.50.01.001) After having dreamed of this legendary model on the Internet for a long time, I was able to try it out in store at the beginning of 2022. It was love at first sight as soon as I put it on my wrist! Its acquisition became an obsession and I took the plunge in June 2022 through an online professional. I chose the Hesalite model to get a little closer to the historic model (I recommend installing an invisible protective shell on the glass to avoid scratches as I did). The proportions of this chronograph are simply perfect and the timeless design means that you can't get tired of it. The fully brushed steel bracelet is exceptionally comfortable. The clasp is also beautiful but quite fragile to scratches (I put an invisible tape to keep its original freshness...). The readability is perfect and what a pleasure to admire the Omega logo floating above the dial. What pride to have the famous co-axial movement and to wear such an emblematic watch. Every time I put it on my wrist, I feel the same happiness! I read a lot of testimonials from watch enthusiasts who talk about this watch as a Grail that many dream of acquiring one day... Thanks to my experience, I can reassure them and tell them that they are right to want this piece because it is simply exceptional!

A watchmaking Grail!

Hanhart Aquasphere FreeFall Blue (ref: 772.270-6428): This is the first diver's watch to be presented by the German brand since its creation in 1882 at the end of 2024. It measures 42mm with a 49mm lug width and a thickness of 12.95mm. It is water-resistant to 300m and equipped with a helium escape valve. It is powered by a Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement.

As a diver's enthusiast, I wanted to add a model from a German brand to my collection. During my research, this model immediately appealed to me thanks to its matte blue dial and sharp typography (reminiscent of the Ball Engineers).
The hands are well differentiated and long, making it easy to read the time. The 60-click ceramic bezel is very smooth and pleasant to use. Additionally, the red line on the bezel chamfer at 12 o'clock refers to the history of the colored pushers on Hanhart aviators' chronographs during World War II.
The satin-finished case is also well-crafted, with the distinctive hollowed-out sides and drooping lugs, providing excellent wearer comfort (inspired by the Primus model).

On the other hand, the screw-down caseback leaves me a little more perplexed... While I find the engraving depicting a seabed with coral and small fish very well done, it doesn't match the sleek and aggressive character of this diver's watch (a bit like an old pirate with flamingo tattoos...). I would have preferred a more aggressive engraving, like a submarine, a torpedo, or a battleship, to remain in keeping with Hanhart's military DNA...

The steel bracelet is equipped with flash springs and a diving extension with a very high-quality folding clasp. Finally, the clasp proudly displays a "HANHART" engraving.

Regarding the precision of this Sellita SW200-1, I tested it in 6 positions with an excellent average of +3 seconds/day.

Hanhart is a manufacturer over a century old with a rich historical reputation, but thanks to this entry into the world of diving watches, it hopes to write a new chapter in its watchmaking adventure and look to the future.

For now, I am very satisfied with my Aquasphere, which is overall very successful because it retains all the hallmarks of a classic diver's watch while incorporating its own identity (hollowed sides, red line, "Deutsche Qualität"). It seems to have been a success, as this first edition is now sold out. I think Hanhart will continue to surprise us by hopefully introducing new dial colors and, of course, a chronograph version... To be continued!

After 142 years of waiting, the birth of their first diver!

My wife's watch... A LIP Himalaya skeleton... with a touch of customization (the µ on the front, our children's first names on the oscillating weight) due to the fact that it is a partnership between LIP and the ENSMM (Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Micro Mécanique de Besançon where one of our children is a student) (a school which has many partnerships with other watchmakers and many of whose former students now work in the field of watchmaking, particularly in Switzerland.

Feminine and dressed with a unique touch

I love my Lip Himalaya. It's my first automatic watch. I had initially fallen in love with their hourglass model, but when I put this one on my wrist, I knew it was the right one. While the movement itself is not exceptional, it is quite accurate and reliable. The dial with its applied indexes is very dressy, which is rare for a skeleton watch. This Lip is perhaps the best value for money for those who want a dress watch, but with a surprising je ne sais quoi!

Magnificent version of LIP Himalaya, with its UFO case and its very refined dial. The sunray is strongly accentuated here, with shades ranging from steel gray to anthracite gray which gives a splendid depth effect; and often a "smoked dial" effect. All the rest of the watch is gold plated, and the whole thing catches the light well without being bling-bling. Very pure design therefore, without frills, but with a small bright orange second hand which gives a little boost to the whole, without distorting the original spirit of the watch. Very successful.
Only small downside: a crown a little small and too integrated, therefore difficult to wind (manual winding).

A very pure design

This watch is made of a brushed steel case, on its large central part, and mirror polished at the bottom and top. The choice is relatively limited in terms of new skeletonized models at affordable prices and quality. What I particularly like about this timepiece is that although it is skeletonized, it is made up of a dial mixing numbers and indexes. This dial allows reading the time as easy as on a more classic watch, which is rarely the case with this type of model. The blued hands bring an additional touch of elegance. I would have appreciated a more refined Swiss movement, but for the price range it would have been difficult.

This Himalaya is actually my father's watch. I really like the numbered indexes at 3, 9 and 12 o'clock. Its beating heart allows us to observe part of its escapement. This movement stamped Lip is a Miyota caliber (Citizen) with a power reserve of about 40 hours, which is enough for a daily. Its blue dial and its horns are undoubtedly its major assets.

The brand&nbsp;Serica was created in 2019 by J&eacute;r&ocirc;me Burget and 3 friends in Paris, France. The name Serica comes from a lost region at the end of the Far East that the Greeks and Romans named it like this. This place echoes the genesis of the brand, which aims to design quality mechanical watches in a neo-retro style, ready to follow you to the ends of the world.
The range includes watches such as the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.dialicious.com/en/serica/4512">Serica 4512</a>, the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.dialicious.com/en/serica/5303">Serica 5303</a> and the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.dialicious.com/en/serica/8315">Serica 8315</a>. One of the particularities of this brand is that its name does not appear anywhere on the dial, in order to encourage the enthusiast to buy a design, finishes and proportions, and not just a name. In July 2023, Serica launched the Serica 5303 COSC, a chronometer version certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute.
The&nbsp;<a href="https://www.dialicious.com/en/serica/6190">Serica 6190</a> surfing on the bases of the brand's first reference, the Serica 4512. This 6190 follows the stylistic codes of the brand, lyre lugs, a choice of different dials and the possibility of choosing the position of the crown at 3 o'clock or at &ldquo;Destro&rdquo; mode at 9 o&rsquo;clock. This Serica 6190 is powered with the Soprod M100 caliber COSC (Official Swiss Chronometer Certification) certified, like the current productions of the other 5303 and 8315 models.&nbsp;
The Serica Parade is a bold collection launched in November 2024... A dress watch that breaks the mold, named &ldquo;Parade&rdquo; and bearing the reference number 1174. These four digits, like all other Serica reference numbers, embody the symbolism of the golden ratio&mdash;or divine proportions&mdash;where the ratio of length to width is 1.174... March 2026 is an important mark with the launch date of a new model eagerly awaited by collectors... Finally, a Serica with a date function. The <a href="https://www.dialicious.com/en/serica/5330">Serica 5330</a> builds on the design of the 5303 with numerous aesthetic updates that allow for the date window to be seamlessly integrated, as we&rsquo;ve come to expect from Serica. Be patient&mdash;pre-orders have just opened for a first shipment scheduled for early May 2026, priced at &euro;1,690.
But 2026 didn&rsquo;t stop there: in May, the brand launched <a href="https://www.dialicious.com/en/serica/7505">a new Serica collection called 7505</a>, featuring a smaller 35mm version of the 6190 watch, better suited for slimmer wrists. Serice doesn&rsquo;t do anything halfheartedly, and has paired this new collection with a new, more robust Bonklip strap. This marks a sign of maturity for the brand, which is thus responding to a demand clearly expressed by its customers.

(LIP Himalaya blue hourglass; Ref: 67575). This is a gift from my wife for our wedding anniversary. This watch is very elegant and catches the eye thanks to its mirror-polished case and its beautifully skeletonized blue dial. Its domed sapphire crystal, applied indexes and very particular skeletonization give it a lot of elegance. The open back shows us the Myota 8N24 caliber (a bit of a shame..) but which works perfectly and whose rotor is a real spinning top... The brown leather strap is of good quality and very comfortable. This is one of the many modern variations of Maurice Herzog's Himalaya and it is always very rewarding to wear a watch with such historical heritage. A beautiful dress watch for less than €400!
