I really loved Interstellar...and when Hamilton released its "spin-off," I thought, I have to have it. The only drawbacks were the 42 mm size, the leather strap (which I really didn't like), and the cathedral hands. I wanted a 39 mm with a steel bracelet. I waited and only took the plunge this month. I love it for what it represents, but objectively speaking, I'm still disappointed. The bracelet looks cheap, and the buckle is too big for the watch's diameter. The legibility isn't great, and the crystal has very little anti-reflective coating. On the other hand, the Powermatic 80 movement is excellent, and the hands (the Empire State Building for the minutes and a snake's head for the hours...that's my interpretation) are very pretty...still, €1075.

I find it expensive for what it offers. But I loved Interstellar, so...

I idealized him too much...

Kuoe Kyoto, Old Smith bronze, 38mm, automatic, made in Japan.

I'd been eyeing them since a trip to Japan but hadn't been won over because of the 35mm models usually on offer. Looking for a Christmas gift to myself, I took another look at this brand. Bingo! Three retailers in France, including one in Toulouse! I was able to go to a store, avoiding the uncertainties of online ordering, to see the one I liked and which was actually available. And there...it was love at first sight. Even prettier than in the photos. Perfect size, textured brown dial, applied numerals, Luminova, no date, screw-down crown, khaki NATO strap, a bronze case that will develop a patina over time, and a Seiko NH38 caliber...I was completely charmed. The only downsides are the yellow PVD metal buckle and the price increase in the last year. Elegant and understated, it's a truly great buy and a crowd-pleaser.

An original alternative to the others...

Tissot PRX digital, 40 mm. I bought it about ten days ago and almost left a review immediately. That would have been a mistake, given the initial rush. The quartz movement/price ratio seemed unfair, especially since the functions are so basic! But then, as the days went by, the perceived quality, the comfort, and its certain elegance made me change my mind...or almost. Why PRX? Is the brand solid enough to create a different design and name? Given the success of the original model, I understand the continuation. This model is just as heavy as the automatic version. The readability is good. An important detail: the discount applied at the time of purchase. I wouldn't have bought it at full price. A good buy nonetheless.

What can I say...Given the "thickness" of the Citizen group, they can afford to release models like this.
Titanium case, solar quartz movement, calfskin strap for around 180 euros with the sales...The latter is heavier than the case!
Lightness, readability, reliability, water resistance...I got the all-blue model, which is as pretty as it is discreet.
In the morning, don't want to wind an automatic? It's always available; it's comfortable.
The only downside is the small size of the date/day window, which isn't very legible. No big deal.
Too perfect? No, just ideal for everyday reading.

Do as I do, wear a...

Codhor watch, from the 80s, bought less than 10 years ago in NOS condition on eBay...about 36 mm in diameter, hand-wound...never serviced, keeps time perfectly with a power reserve of about 40 hours!!!...You have to wonder if you should spend more?!...fortunately there is something else, than the utilitarian side, in the passion for watches...I rarely wear it but I am happy to own one in this condition, it reminds me of another era with this famous ad.

Swatch Obsidian Shimmer, 40 mm
Very flat metal case, metal pin buckle, very supple silicone strap. Very comfortable and very readable. Its dial could be mesmerizing. No lume for nighttime use, which is a shame. No second hand, extremely silent. Impulse purchase at a price (€215) that I find excessive for such a watch.

I discovered this watch in the movie Interstellar and when I saw it in real life I completely fell for it. I was amazed by the quality offered for a really reasonable price. I added a tropic-type strap (www.rubstrap.com) which fits it perfectly to replace its original strap which I found a little too rigid for my taste. For those who like Xavier have a chicken wrist 🤣, this Tropic is perfect in its dimensions. Indeed the largest end measures only 115mm compared to 130 on most models of the kind. The diameter 38 is perfectly adapted to a 16cm wrist. In short, I can only recommend this watch, a safe bet.

Hamilton Khaki Field Murph 38mm

Thank you Hamilton for thinking of chicken wrists!! This Murph 38 is really superb!! Very elegant and at the same time sporty like a field. The work on the case and the bezel is superb with an alternation of polished and brushed. The original design contributes to giving this watch its character with its cathedral hand. Small downsides: the bracelet, very hard and the Lume ... disappointing next to Seiko. Too bad for 100m of water resistance that we do not have a screwed crown but hey we are not going to complain 100m is better than the other Field at 50m. 
I wear it often but not enough because of my damn addiction to the date ... and yes we have problems in life 😉 in short I love this watch and in addition, it seems that it is famous thanks to its appearance in a film ...

Murph 38

Finally Hamilton has answered Interstellar fans. This version of the khaki field murph in 38 mm is really great with its short horns. The vintage side is still present with indexes and magnificent cathedral hands in a patinated color. The finish is superb and they added an anti-reflective coating to the domed sapphire crystal that did not exist on the 42 mm. A simple 3-hand watch typical of Field Watch but classy at the same time. The mirror polish and brushing are very effective and the matte black dial is discreet and versatile. The alligator-type strap is not bad even if I would have preferred it to be thinner. The stitching matches the indexes and hands. And no offense to some, there is no Morse code inscription on the second hand and that's a good thing! In this format, the most beautiful khaki field!

The Murph in 38mm!

Having a military watch from my grandfather Jaeger in renovation, a simple watch, 3 hands, very readable, tempted it more and more. A "military" watch ticked all the boxes and Hamilton is a good ambassador. The release of the Murph, but in 39, with its colors was perfect for me. Just the too shiny bracelet did not please me. I opted by chance on a very inexpensive "paratrooper" bracelet which is so suitable that it could have been delivered originally. Military watch and paratrooper bracelet what could be more logical.
