What a pleasure to wear this Rolex... It's a Datejust, but which Datejust? It's a 4-digit reference #1603 with a stunning patina dial... and, above all, an Engine-Turned bezel that makes all the difference with a "classic" Datejust with a fluted bezel.

When I bought it ten years ago, I was looking for a fluted DJ, but quite frankly, it was impossible to find one with a bezel in decent condition and not completely destroyed by polishing. Guess what? I realized that there were other, less sought-after, less mainstream opportunities with this very atypical bezel!

In the end, and with the benefit of hindsight, it's easy to wonder why I chose it by default... The 10 years I've spent with it have convinced me of one thing: it was made for me. Admittedly, it doesn't have a quickset date, the strap is flimsy and it's quite scratched, but it's my watch and I loved it the way I bought it, and I still love what it's become!

What an amazing, simple but honest 70s style watch using a 5hz caliber! This reference 01-0160-346 is in mint condition. Caliber Zenith 34.6, day-date, genuine Zenith strap and buckle. It just ticks like as fast a Zenith El Primero. This vintage style Zenith is just outstanding… 300 bucks for such a piece, can you believe it? When you love those TV dials stuff, you can’t pass your way. 5 stars vintage!

I wonder what got into me when I bought this Casio G-Shock. It's probably my geeky and gadget-loving side, and God knows this Casio is full of them! Powered by solar energy, radio-controlled for unparalleled accuracy in any time zone, with a crazy LED lighting and plenty of other features that I still have yet to discover! What is it doing in my collection of mechanical watches? That's a big question. For example, the dial is exceptionally deep! I rarely wear it, but it's always a pleasure to put it back on my wrist when I'm gardening or tinkering... It's undoubtedly the most durable watch I have ever tried, and I have a hard time imagining anything more indestructible ;-)

For my part, having started to take an interest in watches while I was still in high school, I naturally turned my attention to the Casio brand and its watches adapted to tight budgets. Synonymous with robustness and unrivaled quality/price ratio, I gradually built up a small collection of pieces found on various classified ad sites, taking advantage of the lack of knowledge of a public that was generally less informed at the time and which allowed me to obtain rare models at very reasonable prices. So it was with Casio, and more specifically G-shock, that my watchmaking journey began. And if, over the years, I have gradually reoriented myself towards watches with a less imposing diameter and a less bestial look, my passion for the brand remains. So, when the possibility of obtaining what is in my eyes the purest G-shock presented itself to me, not through a passionate friend, I jumped at the chance. Because what you have before your eyes is indeed a G-shock that simply tells the time, period. No chrono, date, or even GMT display. Released in 1997, it is the first G-shock with an analog display in the MR-G collection, the brand's most premium.
