Here is my Casio G-Shock reference DW-H5600MB-2ER. A smartwatch to track my sports activities yes! But not to the detriment of my watchmaking passion!

So I started to learn about the different smartwatches on the market and their features. Of course, if we think only in terms of technical characteristics offered by other specialized watch brands, this G-Shock is not the model with the best value for money.

However, I found these same models devoid of soul.

That's why when I came across this watch whose famous design is specific to the brand, the link between watchmaking and functionality appeared. This watch mainly allows the measurement of time, distance, speed and running pace, average and proportional heart rate, sleep quality, and display of mobile notifications. The data can then be viewed on the CASIO application and can also be coupled with Strava.

Little extra: the sundial allowing good autonomy, as well as the blued steel bezel that this MB-2ER model has.

Connected to the authentic look

My first automatic mechanical watch. To start my watch collection, I wanted to own a low-cost diver. This bronze Glycine reveals a real robustness which, matched with a nato strap, has everything of a sea adventurer! Its deep blue smoked dial echoes its 20 atm water resistance and reminds us that it is made for diving. Two additional assets, the qualitative unidirectional crown and the readability of the indexes whose luminescence is similar to the torches of diving suits. This Omega Genève "Türler" reference 166.099 gold plated, represents the first vintage watch in the collection. It features the caliber 1481 present at Omega and Tissot in the 70s, whose particularity is the rapid date change by pressing the crown, and allowing a very appreciable finesse to the watch.

How did a young man in his twenties fall for a second-hand watch from the last century, you might say?

Surely by becoming tired of always seeing the same watches on the wrists or on the networks.

This Longines is very interesting because of its versatility. Indeed, it combines a sporty-chic style with many complications such as: a chronograph, a complete calendar, and a moon phase. Its white dial with vertical patterns reveals subtle silver reflections, while its polished indexes sparkle in the sun. An efficient watch for a reasonable price. A gem this G-shock DW-5900-1 with its unique retro digital style that hits the mark, this model was reissued in 2018 on the occasion of the brand's 35th anniversary.

For the record, the DW-5900 was originally launched in 1990 and is also known as "3-Eyed" and "Walter" (as worn by John Goodman's character in "The Big Lebowski") I am a FAN. This was the first G-Shock with the three-eyed LCD design that would make its way onto the iconic and durable DW-6900 but not only that, in fact it was also used in space and notably on the wrist of astronauts during missions on the International Space Station and yes there is not only the SpeedMaster.

I just bought it in February 2025. I find it really cool and visually fun probably thanks to its embossed dial and its nice depth... I feel like I went back 30 years to my teenage years, it makes me smile and brings back very good memories.

Technically the model offers shock resistance, water resistance of 200 meters, world time (48 cities), a 1/100 second stopwatch (60 minutes in total with splitting), a countdown timer (24 hours), 5 alarms with 1 snooze alarm, an EL backlight with afterglow (1.5/3 seconds) and an estimated battery life of 5 years.

Walter's watch, but not only that...

Gshock 40th Anniversary Limited Edition Watch. This robust and discreet watch follows me daily to work (sports instructor). From an aesthetic point of view it is perfect. The matte black color, the rectangular case, the bracelet engraved with the iconic model references and the simple and functional LCD screen. From a practical point of view, the button at the top left is more difficult than the others to use and requires a little time to adapt. The modes are practical even if the timer modification is only done towards the +, which is really not pleasant when you just want to decrease it by one or two minutes. 

Finally, I recommend this watch or all associated models. Whether for the design or the features.

G-Shock Classic

I received this yellow Casio G-Shock as a gift during my vacation, and it quickly became much more than just a watch: it is my adventure partner. Whether for canoeing, jet skiing, fishing, or my intense sports sessions, it accompanies me everywhere, without ever failing. Its robustness is amazing: it has taken all the shocks without showing the slightest sign of weakness. I have even found myself underwater several times with it, and its waterproofness is impeccable. It's simple, I have never had to worry, it holds up in all situations.

And then, let's talk about its look! This bright yellow is a real favorite. Not only does it attract attention, but it also adds a touch of dynamism to all my outfits, whether in the middle of sports or on a daily basis.

In short, this G-Shock is much more than a watch, it is a real asset for all those who, like me, live their life at 100 miles an hour. A reliable, resistant, and stylish accessory that follows me everywhere. I can't do without it anymore...
