This watch has a mirror-polished case and a screw-down crown. The main asset of this timepiece is to offer an original reading of the time with its single hand. The glass is made of sapphire. The original bracelet with its slightly sporty side and its orange stitching gives an additional appeal to the watch. The white flange offers an interesting contrast with the black dial. Obviously the version with a Swiss movement is more prestigious but that does not detract from the attraction that this timepiece exerts.

Japanese automatic movement

This watch has a mirror-polished steel case. The glass is sapphire, which is nice. The cream-colored dial offers a very elegant day/night indicator. The applied indexes, as well as the date, reveal a certain quality. The very special handles give the model its personality. Finally, the hands are beautiful and complete the dressy character of the timepiece. If the finesse of the bracelet can be surprising at first, I find that it is consistent with the general subtlety that emerges from the watch.

This watch has a brushed steel case with a mirror-polished bezel. The dial is black with a "clou de Paris" finish. The hands are leaf-shaped. I particularly like the applied indexes and the transparent caseback that gives a glimpse of the ETA movement. The mention "Le Locle", which gives its name to the model, is extremely rich in meaning and evocative for any watch enthusiast. The new version with the 80-hour power reserve movement is of course more efficient, but the charm of the old one is irreplaceable.

Version ETA 2824

This watch has a mirror-polished steel case. I particularly like the beige dial which gives an antique look to the timepiece. The typography of the Arabic numerals contributes to the beauty of this Zeppelin, as does the open heart. Finally, the sword hands and the small second sublimate this already magnificent dial. It is worth noting the background which reveals a decoration slightly inspired by the Geneva coasts. I do not see any real negative point to mention concerning this watch.

This timepiece embodies horological classicism for me, with its Roman numerals, guilloché white dial, and of course, its moon phase! Despite this, its date pointer adds a touch of originality that only enhances its elegance.

On the back, I find the movement particularly well-finished, with its oscillating weight standing out very clearly. The inscriptions on the case back only reinforce its delightfully old-fashioned charm.

I replaced the original steel bracelet with an alligator strap, which suits it perfectly and makes the watch even more timeless.
Some might not like the open heart design as much. Personally, I don't mind it at all.
I'll conclude by saying that when I was young, I used to walk past a jewelry store that displayed this watch, and it made me dream. So, it's a great source of pride to own this model today.



Ask for the moon!

This watch has a cushion-shaped mirror-polished steel case. Briston has the great merit of bringing cases of this shape up to date. I appreciate the refined character of the dial and its Bordeaux red color. The pointed hands are very well matched with the indexes. The crown, for its part, is stamped with the brand logo. The original NATO strap detracted from the dressy character of the model, which is why I replaced it with a more elegant leather one. Finally, the white background of the date is a real negative point.

This Tissot was my first automatic watch. I had the opportunity to acquire it more than 10 years ago when I really knew nothing about watchmaking. 
We met on the web, as many couples do these days. 
Indeed, while looking for a beautiful watch to go with my defense outfit, I met it on a watchmaker's website. It was love at first sight! 
Its quality leather strap, its gold case and more generally its attractive design quickly made me capsize and take the plunge. 

Today, with hindsight, I tell myself that even if I didn't know what I was buying, I still got it right. A reliable ETA movement, an elegant design and an attractive price make this watch a perfect timepiece. 

If I were given the opportunity to go back 15 years, I would definitely make the same choice! Indeed, although it is a bit thick and the movement is not manufactured, this absolutely does not prevent me from always taking enormous pleasure when it is on my wrist.

Since then, I have mostly bought Toolwatches but I already know that the next dress Watch will be a Cartier.

The reliable and affordable dress watch

I was looking for a dressy and classic style watch (a bit like a Breguet) but at a reasonable price (less than €500). Not usually a big fan of Roman numerals, I was seduced by these applied Roman numerals that I find quite elegant and discreet. Nice 80-hour power reserve and good precision. The only downside regarding readability is that the rose gold PVD does not contrast enough with the metal dial. If I had to do it again, I would take a model with a dark dial. The original strap is rather ugly and so I bought another brown calfskin strap from ABP to make it a bit more elegant.
