SYE Cannonball GMT Tulsa Owner Review : Atypical, original and comfortable

To explain my connection to this watch, I need to tell you when I bought it: during a visit to Japan in May 2025, I felt compelled to buy a watch there: it was cheaper, and I quite liked Japanese watches... Seiko, Citizen, etc. stores. But also Tudor, etc. I was disappointed with many watches and had settled on a Tudor Black Bay... Anyway, it was a completely different experience, but a financial opportunity. The day I wanted to go buy it, the store was closed, so I left the next day. Meanwhile (for 10 days), I was watching YouTube videos about watchmaking in the background of my hotel room. I discovered SYE, a quintessential French micro-brand. I liked their approach, especially the patented bracelet and the explanation of its "bracelet complication." I found it incredibly interesting, and it made for a beautiful watch (I'm not a fan of lugs...). They were available for pre-order and numbered from 0 to 100 for the first 100. Frustrated by my failed Tudor order, I ordered it from Japan. A frustration that was good for my wallet. Today, I can say that the SYE is one of the watches I've worn the most in 2025. The finish is truly remarkable (sunburst dial, polished case, etc.), and the case construction with the bracelet attachment gives it a very original shape and details. Finally, you can't talk about the SYE without mentioning the bracelet. Although I own several high-end watches, I haven't yet had a better wearing experience than with the SYE bracelet. QED. It's not perfect, and with the deployant clasp, my wrist sometimes has trouble getting the bracelet on. Nevertheless, once it's on the wrist, the watch disappears. It's a feeling Stunning. Meanwhile, SYE has introduced a "standardization" system for using non-proprietary straps, which is great, and I'm going to make this purchase (which I find expensive) to ensure the watch's longevity. But I sincerely hope that my two "original" straps will keep the watch going for a very long time without needing to be replaced! One small disappointment: given the watch's quality, the movement could be more sophisticated, which would give it even more value...
