I was looking for a steel watch that was easier to wear than mainstream or more expensive models. I must say I'm not disappointed at all!
This Sinn is simple, very balanced, and very well designed for the price. What can I say about that brown dial... awesome and different. I really enjoy wearing it!

One of the most versatile “fields”

As a big fan of Santos and gold watches, I chose the latter. What a pleasure to have it on my wrist. Sufficiently contained but heavy on the wrist, a treat! The cabochon goes wonderfully with the yellow of the gold. I am not a fan of Roman numerals in general but on a Santos, it seems obvious.

Perhaps the most versatile watch I have ever owned. A good diameter, good water resistance, a great bracelet, a dial of a truly original blue that changes from a pastel color to a sparkling dark blue. My everyday watch that follows me to the office and when traveling. It may only be missing a beautiful clasp at the bracelet level. To conclude, with it we can create lots of memories and for me that is the hallmark of a good timepiece.

Are 556 IB 

Sinn, a German brand known without being too well-known, that's what I like. The Sinn 556 is the entry-level watch and has 4 references, mine, the 556A, has 4 Arabic numerals 3,6,9 and 12 with a white second hand.
This Sinn exudes the tool watch, it is entirely brushed, easy to read, water-resistant to 200m, a crown protector and finally a ghost date that sticks perfectly to the watch.
Its only "non-tool" side is the transparent case back revealing the SW-200. Mine has a gold rotor that is now silver.
For its price, you get what you pay for.

In the end, making a simple watch is not easy, Sinn has succeeded with this 556A.

A very successful tool watch

But of course, that dial...
In real life, it appears less "red and black" and more like a gradient from brown to orange, which explains why it's nicknamed NEGRONI, like the cocktail made with gin, Campari, and red vermouth.
I was drawn to Sinn's 556 model, the brand's most refined, the most legible, the ultimate tool watch that can be worn anywhere and in any circumstance, but the classic black dial seemed a little too... classic.
Sinn regularly releases variations of its bestseller. When I saw this 200-piece limited edition, I immediately fell for it. No date, stick indexes (which I prefer to the large 3-6-9-12), no unnecessary fluff, and the 5-link steel bracelet is also my favorite.
The dial and exclusivity unfortunately come at a price, as it costs an additional 800 euros compared to the classic version.
The proportions are perfect, and it's very comfortable to wear thanks to the jubilee bracelet that hugs the wrist and its curved lugs.
The satin-finished steel case is solid, and the bulge at the crown gives it a very "industrial" look, reminiscent of a German weapon of war, understated and effective. But, thanks to the delicacy of the sunray dial, the Germanic rigor fades, and the Italian gentleman can swirl the ice cubes in his cocktail glass.
The watch is water-resistant to 200 meters, the crown is screwed down, the time is easily readable day and night, and the deviation is a few seconds per month.
The transparent sapphire crystal case back reveals a soberly decorated but attractive movement.
The case is well finished, and includes spring bars, a bottle of oil, and an additional black calfskin strap with the appropriate tool.

Not just for the dial...

The ultimate field watch, the Sinn 556 is a robust, precise and uncompromising tool watch. The sleek design of the 556A fully contributes to this impression of efficiency. In terms of specifications, we are on safe values, even proven: sapphire crystal, 200m water resistance with screwed and protected crown, anti-magnetism and above all unbeatable readability! The large Arabic numerals 3, 6, 9 and 12 in white on a matte black background and the white hands allow an almost instantaneous reading of the time. The date window is very discreet, almost invisible if we compare the size of the font to that of the hour numerals. The design of the hands is particularly successful, with their black bases they seem to float on the dial. I also appreciate its contained diameter of 38.5mm which gives it a certain discretion. In short, a versatile watch but whose charm strangely lies in its simplicity or even its rigor. A daily watch that is very likely to remain stuck to my wrist!

Sinn 556A: the perfect field

This sinn has an exemplary finish, as soon as you take it in hand you immediately feel that it exudes quality. Everything is balanced in this watch and the red second discreetly brings its little touch of color. It is superb in its simplicity and efficiency. The movement is better regulated than the cosc + 3 s / d. The only small drawbacks would be the power reserve at 38 hours and the rather large clasp but otherwise nothing to say, this sinn 356 is a very good canvas watch

Pure toolwatch

I have only known the Sinn brand for a couple of years. I had indeed missed it but by looking at more and more watch content the brand has established itself in my mind as a reference of robustness and quality. I am very attracted to tool watches especially military type and the reference 556 had been making me dream for a while. I opted for the magnificent blue dial of the 556 I B because while being a simple watch it can still be dressed up. The Sinn steel bracelet is incredible. The links are secured using rivets that must be unscrewed with 2 small Allen keys supplied with the watch. Just a little more complicated than a classic system with the assurance of the robustness of the link in addition. The movement is visible through the case back with its oscillating weight marked with the Sinn logo of the most beautiful effect. Thanks to its screw-down crown the watch is water-resistant up to 200m, as well as a diver. The movement seems very precise to me so far. It is a Sellita SW200-1 and the case is anti-magnetic. Everything is there to make this timepiece an essential tool for everyday use, with a welcome touch of elegance provided by the galvanized dial that goes from blue to purple depending on the lighting.

Quality in "daily".

I have been wearing it for a few weeks, I did not want the metal bracelet but rather the rubber which fits the case just as well. This watch is perfect, even for a 16cm wrist, with its 38.5 cm diameter it is large with its dial opening. Its readability is exceptional in all conditions.

Sublimely boring!

I was looking for a watch that was both readable and robust, with a diameter of less than 40 mm, and I finally chose the 556 in the “A RS” version. I have been wearing this watch daily since 2020, despite my manual work, and I am not disappointed.

The first impression that emerges is that of rock-solid solidity as soon as you take it in your hand. It is quite heavy with its metal bracelet, weighing 160 g. The brushed metal and the raw shape of the case also give it a very robust look. I was able to test this solidity for 4 years: I knocked it, scratched it, rubbed it, shook it, and yet it still works just as well.

The second characteristic that strikes you is the readability. The deep matte black dial, the thick hands and the sober graduation make it possible to read the time quickly. The anti-reflective glass does its job well when clean, but it is susceptible to micro-scratches over time.

The mechanism is easy to adjust, and the date change is smooth. The screw-down crown guarantees perfect water resistance. I have jet-skied, visited water parks, and snorkeled, and I have never encountered any problems.

The bracelet is also sturdy. After 4 years of intensive use, it still holds its clip well. Its brushed finish helps to hide the marks of time. Although it is not easy to adjust, with a little patience, it can be done quite well.

I love this watch, but I find that there is something missing on the dial, between the 6 and the center. A little “RS” or “Automatik” inscription would better balance the whole thing.

A great watch for everyday use that will never let you down, but a little too sober, too German for the weekend. Perfect as a tool watch.

Very solid

I bought this watch for its very simple design and the great readability of its dial. The readability of the dial comes from the matte black dial, very contrasting with the indexes and hands of a beautiful white. The date window is very discreet (placed at 4:30) thanks to its black background. The bright red seconds hand gives a little pep to the whole. To emphasize the military side of the watch I opted for a Marine Nationale strap (Erika) which suits it perfectly. A discreet but unique watch. Only downsides: the price... I find it a little expensive considering the specs and the original leather strap which is really not beautiful AND the anti-reflective treatment on the external face of the sapphire which makes fingerprints stand out a lot, not to mention the risk of scratches/chipping of the treatment in the long term.

Sinn 556A RS: Top readability

Tool watch with character, the precision and coldness of German execution, very industrial but so satisfying with this perfectly readable dial, thanks to the double anti-reflective treatment, all in an elegant 38.5mm case that will delight all wrists. Special mention for this red seconds hand, bringing a welcome sporty effect to this aviator dial, an excellent watch for a very reasonable price that exudes quality of execution.

Sinn 556A RS

Thoughtful purchase of this tool watch, with specs that can face everyday life without trembling.
I like its readability, its contained diameter (38.5mm), the quality of its finishes, and therefore its ability to be worn in many conditions without fear for its integrity. A versatile and well-built instrument watch.
I also chose the "RS" version, with its red second hand giving the whole thing an extra touch of sportiness.
A design that easily accepts a nato, leather, or rubber strap to replace its original metal. So from one season to the next, and always in this "daily" spirit, you can very easily play with its personality.

In terms of criticisms, I would say perhaps this very small date window, which really requires squinting to be sure of its reading.
And a "luminova" not necessarily very intense or durable, unless you hold a powerful light source close to it for a long time.

Finally, I would talk about the customer experience. I was able to pick up my watch directly at Sinn's headquarters in Frankfurt.
A very pleasant, personalized welcome, in a showroom where the entire Sinn catalog is physically available and can be handled.
I was lucky to be greeted by a person who spoke perfect French, and who did not hesitate to cover me with goodies when I left (coffee, chocolates, calendar, bound brand catalog, and bottle of white wine).
