Here I’ve got the RGMT Combat Noir GMT here with me — a GMT watch with an automatic movement that definitely makes an impression, both visually and technically. Let’s start with the specs: the watch comes in at 46 mm in diameter, 16 mm thick, and has a lug-to-lug of 53.5 mm. So yes, it’s a big watch — but that actually fits the concept perfectly. It’s called Combat for a reason, and it does look a bit martial, a bit tough, yet the design is well thought-out and feels cohesive. Everything about it feels intentional. One thing that immediately stands out is the crown positioned at 12 o’clock, which gives the watch that bullhead style. That’s something you don’t see every day, and it gives the piece a unique look on the wrist. The crown itself is a push-down crown, not screw-down, yet it still delivers 300 m of water resistance — which honestly surprised me. The crown has a two-level knurling, and at first I thought that might make it tricky to operate. Turns out it’s the opposite. It’s very grippy, and because you can easily lift it slightly with your fingernail, it’s actually one of the easiest crowns to handle. Adjusting the hands or the date feels smoother than on many traditional screw-down crowns. So what I initially thought might be a downside actually turned out to be one of the highlights. Another interesting detail: the bezel only rotates in one direction — just like a diver’s watch. That’s quite unusual for a GMT, but when you think about the Combat name, it makes sense. If this watch were designed for rough environments or situations where your wrist might bump into things, you wouldn’t want your bezel to move around accidentally. So the one-way click action actually feels logical here. And in terms of feel, the bezel action is crisp and satisfying. Inside, it’s powered by the Seiko NH34 automatic movement, a reliable, well-known GMT caliber. It’s not a luxury movement, but it’s proven and dependable. The dial itself is rather understated. There’s a world map texture in the background, though on this black version it’s barely visible. IIt keeps the focus on what matters: readability and functionality. The minute track and GMT markings are bold and easy to read, and that’s really what this watch is about. On the wrist, despite the size, it wears quite comfortably — assuming you’re into larger watches. I’m wearing it on the rubber strap, which gives it a sportier, more tactical feel, but it also comes with a steel bracelet, which is a great bonus. The 12 o’clock crown looks cool on the wrist and gives the whole watch a distinctive presence. Of course, the size won’t be for everyone. At 46 mm and 53.5 mm lug-to-lug, it’s a watch that makes a statement — you’ve got to like that kind of boldness. But if you do, this one’s worth checking out. The build quality is surprisingly good for this price point. The case feels solid, the bezel and crown action are smooth, and nothing about it feels cheap or rushed. Overall, the tactile feel is excellent — it feels like you’re getting a lot of watch for the money. Speaking of money: depending on current promotions, it sells for around $300–$400 USD, which is honestly great value for what you get — automatic movement, sapphire crystal, 300 m water resistance, GMT function, and both steel and rubber straps included. Final thoughts: The RGMT Combat Noir GMT is a bold, functional watch with a clear identity. It’s tough, distinctive, and well-built for the price. It’s not for every wrist or every taste — but if you like big, purposeful tool watches and want something that stands out from the crowd, this one delivers solid quality and character for the money.
