The Pagani Design PD-1767 is a men's automatic watch, a striking example of Pagani Design's ability to offer watches with designs inspired by high-end models, with respectable manufacturing quality at a very affordable price. Its aesthetic clearly pays homage to the Panerai Submersible, one of the most recognizable and robust dive watches on the luxury market. Design and Aesthetics The case of the PD-1767 echoes the distinctive and massive "cushion" shape of the Panerai Submersible, giving the watch a significant presence on the wrist. It is made of 316L stainless steel, brushed on the main surfaces for a utilitarian and robust look, with polished accents on the edges. The watch incorporates a unidirectional rotating bezel, a characteristic of dive watches. It has an aluminum or ceramic insert (depending on the version and production period) with 60-minute markers and rider markers at the 6 and 12 o'clock positions, typical of the Submersible's bezels. The bezel clicks well. The PD-1767's dial is designed to be highly legible and functional. It features large luminescent (applied) indexes for good visibility in the dark. The configuration has a small seconds hand at 9 o'clock and a date window at 3 or 6 o'clock. Some variants include a power reserve indicator at 3 o'clock, a nice feature for a watch of this price. The hands are sturdy and easy to read, either baton or sword-shaped, filled with luminescent material. Unlike the original Panerai Submersible, the Pagani Design PD-1767 has a classic screw-down crown, well-sized and with pronounced knurling for easy handling. It is signed with the Pagani Design logo. Materials and Finishes The 316L stainless steel case offers good corrosion resistance and overall durability. The finishes are impressive for the price segment, with careful brushing and well-defined edges. A major asset of the PD-1767 is its scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, often slightly domed or anti-reflective. The luminescence of the indexes and hands is functional, but cannot compete with the power and durability of high-quality Swiss lume applications. The PD-1767 comes with a nylon strap. This type of strap is robust and ideal for sporty or casual wear, reinforcing the utilitarian aspect of the watch. Movement The Pagani Design PD-1767 is powered by a Chinese automatic movement, like the Hangzou 2C10. This caliber provides the basic functions (hours, minutes, small seconds, date) and a power reserve indicator for some variants. These movements are reliable for everyday wear, with acceptable accuracy, but without the elaborate finishing of high-end calibers. Water Resistance and Positioning The Pagani Design PD-1767 has a water resistance of 100 meters (10 ATM) or 200 meters (20 ATM). This makes it suitable for swimming, showering, and surface diving. However, it is not designed or certified for professional scuba diving at great depths. The PD-1767's price is its major selling point, making it extremely affordable, typically between 100 and 150 euros. It is aimed at watch enthusiasts who appreciate the bold aesthetic and "tool" look of Panerai-style dive watches on a budget, or for those who want to try a watch style without a major financial commitment.
