Omega Seamaster Soccer Timer Owner Review : Disturbing, exotic and sporty

On the eve of the 1970 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, Omega launched a chronograph designed to time soccer matches. Unlike other Omega models, this referee watch was also marketed to the general public. The "Soccer Timer" series was available with two dial colors (cream or gray) and in two sizes: 38 mm (ref. 145.016) and 41 mm (ref. 145.020 and 145.029). The reference 145.029 differed from the other versions in the presence of a rotating internal bezel. Regardless of the dial color and case size, the "Soccer Timer" was distinguished by its black and red chronograph sub-counters, reminiscent of the colors of soccer jerseys of the time. The minute sub-counter was graduated to 45 minutes to measure half-time. Interesting details: the 5-minute graduations before the end of the half are in bold, and the red and black counters measure the additional time (15 minutes). The model presented is a 1969 reference 145.016 with a cream dial. The 38mm barrel-shaped case features circled surfaces and polished corners. It houses the famous caliber 861, which powered the Speedmaster Professional from 1969 onward. As a watch enthusiast, I was looking for a watch that would combine my passion with that of my father-in-law, who was a football fanatic. It took me some time to find it, and it greatly enhanced my enjoyment of wearing it.
