I was looking for a very versatile watch: no complications other than a possible date display, 36mm, relatively thin, both chic and sporty, discreet yet luxurious, water-resistant, and absolutely on a steel bracelet. I had my eye on this first-generation Aqua Terra (mine is from 2005) for a long time, and it took me many months to finally buy it. This is just my opinion, but in my humble view, this version is much more balanced and desirable than the newer generations of Aqua Terra, which I find too bulky and more expensive. Its specifications are as follows: - 36.2 mm diameter - 11 mm thickness - 44 mm lug to lug - 19 mm lug width - 15 ATM water resistance The dimensions, the lyre-shaped lugs, the fully brushed case sides and bracelet, the hands, the applied hour markers, and the sunburst finish are, in my opinion, flawless. The hidden buckle, which eliminates any added bulk on the bracelet, is incredibly elegant. To top it all off, the applied Omega logo on the dial adds a touch of refinement. It's available with a matte black dial, a light sunburst gray dial, and a sunburst blue dial. It's in this blue version, quite dark in fact, that I found the most coherence and beauty, quite simply. The color shifts depending on the light, from a rather vivid blue to a grayish blue, to a deep blue. To date, it represents the culmination of my entire modest collection. The movement is the Omega 2500 (COSC), the brand's first co-axial caliber and a derivative of the ETA 2892. I have the C version, which corrected many of the issues of the A and B versions, but from what I've read, it's still inferior to the D version. The rotor seems very effective; the watch starts instantly and is accurate. The sapphire crystal case back allows us to admire the movement, finished in rhodium plating. On the downside, I would say that the sliding clasp isn't easy to operate with one hand. Also, the bracelet lacks micro-adjustments. I also think the bracelet could have been slightly thinner at the buckle. Furthermore, even though the crystal is supposed to have an anti-reflective coating on the inside, legibility is sometimes only average, as the polished hands and markers reflect light quite a bit depending on the light. Ultimately, it could be the sole watch in a collection; I love it!
