A dream embraced

This watch is what hooked me on watchmaking. The bug bit me during a Hodinkee episode where John Mayer talked about it. He recounted his fascination with the diameter (46 mm) and the absolute legibility of the dial. Years have passed, and I've always maintained that fascination with this timepiece. After owning a few "classic" watches, I finally took the plunge: a piece with character, not necessarily for everyday wear, but one I fully embrace. So yes, it's true, very small wrists aren't the best idea, although... Anyway, the watch will always be too big, and that's precisely why it's called the Big Pilot. I promise you, if you see me on the street, you'll be able to read the time from the opposite sidewalk. The power reserve: 7 days. What more can I say? You can wear the watch once a week and practically never wind it. The folding clasp: it comes with a superb leather strap and a beautiful folding clasp that minimizes wear on the strap. The "diamond" crown: it's pure, not minimalist but truly pure, a large piece of steel, not practical, not ergonomic, and it doesn't fit under a shirt cuff, which is exactly the point. The crown sparkles in the light, but it's nowhere near as dazzling as a fluted Datejust bezel. The blue dial, characteristic of the Petit Prince editions: a unique color; even other IWC blue dials don't have this shade of blue. It's a blue that brightens considerably in the sun but retains a true nuance. It's not a deep blue that fades in the dark; this one is truly blue 24/7 without looking out of place. If you're considering this piece, please don't just rely on the specifications. Try it on several times in a store, take photos, compare, and you'll see. The advantage of such a unique watch is that I have yet to meet anyone who had the same one.
