The Grand Seiko SLGW003, affectionately known as the "Birch Bark" - I never anticipated enjoying a manually wound watch as much as I do with this piece. First, I love the dial's grainy texture which is reminiscent of the papery, silvery bark of a Japanese birch tree. I was also impressed by the glass-like finish on the brilliant hard titanium (notoriously challenging to polish). This stunning finish stands in stark contrast to the duller, grayer tones seen in some other titanium watches. Last but not least, winding it is a joy in itself. Flip the watch over, and you'll see this beautifully finished movement moving with a winding spring in the shape of a Wagtail (a bird native to Morioka where GS studio is located). The way it moves is satisfying and melodious; a true symphony for the senses.

Robust (brilliant hard titanium)
Great finish despite a challenging material
The original/factory strap and buckle could have been better
