The AVI 8 Spitfire Smith Automatic Peanuts Snoopy Flying Ace Limited Edition is a watch that plays with the idea of a fun watch without ever becoming loud or gimmicky. It is clearly inspired by Snoopy and the Flying Ace character, but it does so in a very restrained and tasteful way. The result is a watch that brings a lot of character and nostalgia while still looking like a serious pilot watch at first glance. Specifications Model Spitfire Smith Automatic Peanuts Snoopy Flying Ace Limited Edition Case material stainless steel Case size (mm) 42.0 Case Thicknedd (mm) 14.4 Lug to Lug (mm) 50.0 Dial color aviator green Crystal sapphire crystal Water resistance 50 meters Movement automatic movement Seiko NH 35A Crown pull out crown Strap leather strap with Snoopy details Limited edition yes Review At first sight, the watch does not immediately reveal itself as a Snoopy themed piece. That is one of its biggest strengths. The overall design stays very close to a classic pilot watch aesthetic. The case proportions are well judged and feel completely fine on the wrist. It is neither too large nor too small and works well on a wide range of wrist sizes. For the price paid, the case build quality is excellent. The finishing feels solid and well executed and the watch gives a reassuring sense of value as soon as you put it on. The dial design is where the Snoopy story really lives, but it does so in a subtle and clever way. There are small narrative elements and illustrations that reference Snoopy and his Flying Ace persona, yet they are integrated into the dial in a way that feels natural rather than forced. You get a lot of Snoopy DNA without it ever feeling like a cartoon watch. The details reward closer inspection and make the dial interesting to look at over time. It is playful, but never childish. This restrained approach continues throughout the rest of the watch. Snoopy appears on the crown and on the strap, but these details are either placed on the underside or applied very discreetly. Nothing jumps out aggressively. If you did not know it was a Peanuts collaboration, you could easily overlook it at first glance. That balance between fun and seriousness is very well executed and makes the watch much more versatile than many themed editions. The strap itself feels good on the wrist. It complements the aviator green dial nicely and reinforces the vintage pilot watch character. Comfort is very good and the watch wears easily throughout the day. Inside the watch runs an automatic movement that fits the concept well. It adds mechanical credibility and supports the idea that this is not just a novelty piece, but a proper watch that happens to tell a story. The fifty meter water resistance may sound modest on paper, but for a pilot watch this is perfectly acceptable. It is more than enough for everyday use and does not feel like a real limitation in practice. If there is any criticism at all, it would be exactly that water resistance figure, but it is more of a technical note than a real drawback. Given the style and purpose of the watch, it is absolutely fine. In summary, the AVI 8 Spitfire Smith Automatic Peanuts Snoopy Flying Ace Limited Edition is a very well judged watch. It is a fun watch in spirit, but it does not look like one at first glance. The Snoopy elements are subtle, tasteful and full of character, giving fans plenty to enjoy without pushing the theme too hard. Combined with good proportions, strong case quality for the price and a thoughtful dial design, this is a genuinely enjoyable watch that works both as a collector piece and as an everyday pilot watch.
